i'm on the fence about pulling the trigger on a pulley/tune combo(probably a 172mm) and i want to know how much of a difference it would make in a rolling start race against a Z06.right now i'm stock apart from a Brabus exhaust and got beat pretty easily by a Z06.

what do you guys think?anyone with hands on experience against a Z06 or a similar performing vehicle(997tt,f430...)?

i have a cl65 and c6 zo6. c6z is a cam+bolts makin 530rwhp that goes 10.8@131. cl65 last week did 11.1@125. suprisingly the were pretty even on the highway(60-160) with the benz getting the hit. my zo6 bone stock in june here in vegas +5000ft da trapped 123mph. their are other ones around the country that trap between 123-129 stock. from 60 i think you will get pulled. from a dig, maybe a good shot as the z is a ***** to launch

Might I ask what difference it makes? Are you sayin if it's not faster than a Z06 you won't go for it? Pulley and tune should net you 50-70whp. That is all that should matter and is a no brainer in my books

I beat a c6 z06 in the 1/4 mile and Im stock pulley, he out trapped me (at the time), but I had him in et, and now trap higher than he trapped.

Had a run from about 5mph against a C6 ZO6 and from a roll they are pretty quick especially if there is a good driver behind the wheel. On that day he got me by just over a car until we had to slow down (70mph) My car is quicker than it was at the time we went at it so it would be interesting to see what would happen now since my car runs factory claimed ZO6 times in the 1/4.

you would need more than a pulley and tune to take a c6 Z06. Add TB, headers, pulley, and a good (not mail order) tune, then go play. Have raced 5 of them.

They trap like 120-123 stock at my track.

At the end of the day, I would still want the E55 as the DD.

The Z06 would make a great addition to any garage

C5 z06... vs stage 1 E55... (e55)

bolt on modded c5 z06 vs stage 1 e55 (probably C5 towards the higher end) deep in 3 digits


c6z06: You will need Stage 2 and Meth. (pulley, headers,) cooling HE and Meth.

Even then.. It might be a draw

It's not gona work on a well driven Z06. You would have to go full bolt-on and even then maybe. If you are next to the Vette past 150 you should start pulling because of the T6060's weak 5th gear.

so,in other words it's nearly impossible for the E to match the C6 Z06 with just a pulley+tune in a rolling race. Hmmm... i guess i will try to sell the E and get me a Z because i'm craving for a manual SO bad nowadays and i guess they don't come better than the Z06

yes,you are correct,but i thought that the 50-70whp were enough to upset the weight difference between the two cars and make it at least a very close race.

it would have been nice if the E was able to compete with the same cars the 65tt competes with.I mean pulley+tune gives about 50-70whp which translates to 70-100 at the crank. so in theory it should be a 540-570hp car which is almost the same power/weight as the S/CL 65s. but i guess a v12 is not the same as a v8,especially at high speeds.

+1, perhaps a better comparison would be a 2010 Caddy V with the 554 HP V-8?? Sedan or Coupe?? I know he said Vette, BUT lets compare apples to apples??Or a 911 S Turbo with Sport Chrono against the C6 ZO-6? It wouldn't even be a comparison.

a perfect example when you have a fast mercedes against a poorly driven zo6. spun like crazy out of the hole and missed 3rd gear. would like to see the times in the 1st vid

i smoke stock Z06 and even a tuned one from 0 - 250, coz no one perfects their launch control lol.

but from a roll say 70km, i pass them slowly untill my 4th gear is in and then they leave me behind.

but it is fun to smoke them at low speed.
