Anybody else's car run "slower" with the colder weather?

Maybe it's in my mind, but it seems my car has been running a bit more "sluggish"/slower than when the weather was hot or warmer.

I would have thought the car would run stronger with the colder weather given that's cars run harder without the heat, but it has seemed like it's the opposite. What gives?

I don't have a CEL or anything of that sort (not yet), I'm wondering if it's just in my head or if there is something wrong with the motor for me to feel like sluggish nature .

The car isn't slow, just doesn't feel the same?

Thoughts?

could be that the engine just isn't working as hard to give the same output due to the cooler temps and your mistaking that for less power - I recently had the "my car is slow" thoughts - took it to the track and literally had my helmet bouncing off the head rest when I launched. . .needless to say she reminded me that she was as slow as I thought.

If my memory's from my days of flying rotocraft are right colder air is much better for the performance of internal combustion engines, especially ones that are supercharged. The colder air is much denser with the oxygen molecules closer together hence you have more complete burning of the air/fuel mixture and therefore more power. I know when you roll on the throttle and pull up on the collector in a helicopter on a cold day the craft would gain altitude much quicker than on a hot humid day.

Bad tank of gas? Maybe where you live they switched over to winter blend of gasoline? Years ago in NY, you could tell when they switched to winter blend. Now we get same crap winter blend all year round.

Did you check your iats could be a bad pump and also try the sneaky Ecu reset thing to see if that helps

Is your car modded? I get worried when I here things like this. I highly dubt your car is lean but for some reason it is your car can slow down in colder air.

I haven't checked my IATs? How exactly do you do that? Is there a DIY?

I did the sneaky ECU reset, and it actually started acting like this AFTER I did the reset. I hope that didn't cause all this?

There is PLENTY of fuel on a stock car. So do the reset again and this time make a few wide open pulls and see how she acts. Or your car could be like mine and have a mind of its own....

If by "slower" you mean she runs like a raped ape then yes, it's tons slower.

I hope you get it figured out buddy. Prob a IC pump like most are suggesting.

GO BRONCOS.

Nah, Sneaky ECU reset just reset tranny adapts so it really won't make the car run better or worse, just shift differently.

I agree with Sneaky Neon, try resetting again and do some wide open pulls and see if it helps.

Pump could be going bad on ya. common problem for sure.

We just got our first cold snap a couple of days ago. My car felt noticeably quicker in the 55* weather.

When you perform the ECU reset your car will adapt to whatever driving style you do immediately afterwards.
If you do the reset and drive slow, it will adapt to slow driving and make the car feel a bit sluggish.

Try reseting it again and drive it aggressively. If this doesn't wake her up, check your IC pump, it may be on its way out.

Your car should definitely feel stronger in colder weather. Everytime I run my car in colder weather, I feel like I've added NOS to her

Check IC Pump and adaptations one more time.

I find the combination of better performance from the cool denser air and the soft compound of the summer tires loosing grip in the cold result in a significant increase in flashing triangles.

Thanks for the tips, guys ...

I'm going to do the sneaky reset tomorrow morning and go do some WOT runs, maybe it is because I didn't as aggressive after I did the reset that the car is reacting slowly. I'll reset again and do a couple 20-100 WOT pulls.

Also, I'm headed to the dyno tomorrow, so she has to be running strong!

Stay tuned..

I think it IS the slow tranny shifting that is making the car feel very sluggish almost like I have to give it more throttle than usual to get her going.

I'll check it out tomorrow after the reset and getting out to a wide open road for some quick WOT pulls.
