I just replaced my motor mounts in December, and drove 33,000 miles this year - but my motor mounts are bad again and need to be replaced.
Is that excessive, or is that around what they last? I'd think you would last a bit longer..

not sure if its normal but i have had mine changed twice plus the tranny mount too (car has 67k miles)
So far it seems like every 30k miles, I need to change the motor mounts. They were done at 85k, 117k, and 150k. So roughly around 30k miles I start to hear more vibrations as they become worn.

have you visually inspected the motor mounts to check if they are leaking
Mine are being replaced with the transmission mount next week. Iam getting some side to side shaking in the steeringwheel while driving. Tires were just balanced. Could these mounts have something to do with that?

I think the mount last around 50K but not sure...
These were my symptoms below, and the car has 150,500 miles now.
First, I was getting a very rough idle only when in reverse or drive. I would feel the engine vibrating and it was noisy. This got gradually worse over time, as the motor mounts deteriorated and the engine came into more contact with the metal.
Also, when accelerating to higher speeds (Like faster highway speeds) I would sometimes hear a metal-on-metal grinding noise coming from the front.
Changed the 2 motor and 1 transmission mounts, and all of the noise and vibration is gone, car idles perfectly smooth and quiet.
While driving, I was not hearing anything wrong, only in idle. But the last time my engine mounts went, they would make a huge clunking noise and even took out my power brake hose, making me lose brakes. (It was at a slow speed, 5mph so I was able to stop.)
Moral of the story: Don't ignore sounds from your car, fix issues before they can do any damage.

My 06 E55 just turned over 50k and mine haven't been replaced yet... I guess it would depend on how hard you drive...
malakasnyc: What are you using to lower your car? A lowering module or the washer method? Also, what wheels do you have on your car? I also have a white E55 (I know yours is a 63...) and am thinking about black wheels with either red or blue calipers...

Mine has 85K on clock now, still not change..... all depend how you drive.
I feel more vibration but not too bad.

How much does it cost to replace Motor mounts? I have a slight vibration as well.

HP and driving habits play a lot into the equation.

Considering the torque some these modded beasts are making, it is no wonder motor mounts are needing to be replaced.
