E63 service. 20k mile service is $500
Do you guys get the full service MB does every 10k miles? Input 20k mikes a year on this car. It is going to get expensive! They also recommend tire balancing every 10k miles. Thoughts? I went ahead and got it. Can't hurt anything except my pocketbook.

Yep service D also includes a brake flush. I think it's fair considering the level of car it is. Also it does take 10 quarts of synthetic

I now have 63k on my 2007 E63
I read my manual and change things based on that
20K should be an easy service, just change the oil. Of course the dealer will charge you for checking everything is ok with the car (service items 12 and 14 in my manual).
If it gets to be 2 years, change the brake fluid
40k change the tranny oil (it says once but not me, every 40k is my plan - this is also the only thing I do not do myself)
30k or 2yrs, the AC combination filter
40k or 4yrs, the enginer air filter (I do mine more)
60k or 5yrs, spark plugs (see my DIY)
150k or 15yrs (really?) change the coolant and fuel filter
3yrs clean and lube the pano roof (this is still on my list to complete)
I guess I would change the steering fluid after 150k.
I will also change the diff oil again at about 80k (I have the LSD)
As used:
Brake Pads (fronts done at 62k, although many on this forum use them faster)
Rotors (have not heard of anyone going below minimum thickness)
Tires - rear for me are 12-13k, but some on the forum get half this. Fronts, 2x, so for your comment on re-balancing I would rebalance the fronts when I get new rears.

So here are the things they are charging you for. Personally, I do enough of this myself I can not see paying for it. If you go in and say Service A/B/C/D/E/F/G, etc, you will get charged big. We know service A is just an oil change. But beyond that, if you do not read your manual you have NO idea what the other service levels MAY require.

imho, forget this B/C/D/F/G stuff. That's really an internal shop thing that determines labor hours, etc..
I do what Jon is pointing out. Service based on mileage as stated in the maintenance manual. Go by the mileage on the odo and the time, and do the necessary service items.
My SA is way cool and printed out the service details based on mileage (and time) for me. Then when I bring in the car, he goes over the items with me and gives me the projected cost in materials an labor (and any discounts the dealer is running at the time.) None of the ABCXYZ stuff.
If you don't have the maintenance manual you can download them from the MBUSA website.

Park Place only lists Service A and B in their Flex Service anyways. My SA just lets me know when certain stuff should be done, or I gauge it on how hard I've been driving. I usually service earlier than recommended...

RE: Service Quote
I'd ask for a breakdown of what the $500 entails. If it includes brake flush, air filters, cabin filter, wiper blades etc. it is probably reasonable.

Just pick up my car this evening from doing the 20k or B service. Bill was $681.38.
They did the oil change plus O-ring, and new filter. Also new cabin dust filter.
And all the items listed in the maintenance manual (and Jon's post above), plus something called "cleaning out cowl and roof drains." And "lubed weather strips."
In addition, that price also included a "vehicle brake system flush" and brake fluid change which I requested (at 20k plus the car's build date is close to 2 years now; in-service date is 1.5 years.)
They also captured some oil from the middle of the drain stream which I'll be sending out for analysis. Last analysis was excellent. I changed out the original factory fill break-in oil at 1.5k. Have done another change since, plus one at the 10k service.
Car runs like a champ. Doesn't use any oil at all and no noisy tappets either. Knock on wood......

Interesting. I bet the pano has a number of them. And those at the lower left and right of the windshield tend to be magnets for debrise. Of course most on this forum are far more meticulous about their cars and it is likely much less of a problem.
