The mounts themselves were $180 each, and the transmission one was $42, so roughly $400 in parts plus a few hours labor. You can get the parts cheaper online, I had it done at a shop and it was around $900 total. (Mercedes quotes even more!)
LOL yeah i forgot to mention how big of a difference it was.. my bad
I had the dealer tell me one motor mount showed signs of leaking at roughly 40,000. I don’t recall any vibrations or driving feedback at that time. At about 45,000, I had the motor mounts replaced when adding mods. It seemed to make sense that solid mounts would be a good thing since I was adding a few ponies.
I had the motor mounts replaced again last spring at about 70,000 miles. There was a vibration similar to what E55Bullet and Evolved 8 experienced. I thought it was the tranny mount based on things I had read on the forum. The dealer said it was the motor mounts because they were “pancaked” which was the result of a bad install by the shop that installed my mods. The dealer replaced the mounts and the problem was still there. They replaced the tranny mount and the problem was solved.
As I understand it, the liquid filled motor mounts are excellent as far as isolating engine vibration, but certainly will wear out especially on the modded beasts.
