What do you guys think of these mufflers? (BORLA)

Borla Turbo XL Unversal Mufflers. I would get the 3" Inlet/Dual 2.5" Outlet or 3' Inlet/Dual 2.25" Outlet, depending on how big the AMG tip pipes are.
And since I have both secondaries and resonator out right now, If it was too loud then I would put the res back on. What do you guys think? Good quality muffler? Here's the Link:

I am not a big fan of ANYTHING that Borla makes

Yes it is guaranteed for life, however the packing inside the mufflers is not.

Hence after about 1000 miles they start gradually getting louder, ask me how I know

By the way, their system actually LOOSES power on ALL corvettes that I have ever seen dynoed

That sounds like bull****. I had Stingers on my Corvette and they got quieter as time went on and actually made more power on the dyno.

Agree 100% with MRAMG1! I can't believe I actually just typed THAT!

I've tested some of their systems on domestics and imports and they definitely do not make the most power and I've actually seen them lose power.

The Stinger is one of their best though.

Wow I guess I'm not getting borlame mufflers. Haha any other suggestions other than magna flow? I just think spend three g's is ridiculous for mufflers.

Maybe but just like everything else you gotta pay to play with these cars. IMO the eisenmann or meistershaft mufflers are the best choices for looks build quality and sound.

Wow. I've never seen anyone hate on Borla before now.

I actually love the Borla catback on my Jeep.

Ya I'm only 21 and I have to spend my money wisely because I have more important things to worry about like pulley, tune, and cooling.

I might actually just go with the Borlas. THe worst that can happen is I lose a couple HP. But I truely believe that Borlas should flow more than our stock E55 mufflers, I mean look how big they are.

Don't do it! Just save up a little more money for headers (kleamann) $1500, and you will get the sound and big horse power at the same time. I have the kleemanns with straight pipes into stock mufflers and its ridiculous sounding. Oh and almost 0 drone, which you will more than likely have with these mufflers.

Only thing is I want and need to keep my primaries in place because I live in Northern California and I don't want it to smell like my catless evo I used to have, It's a Mercedes.

no smell, and you can bolt your primary's right up to the kleamann headers if you wish..

I get the money issue but you are wasting money on these. AMG doesn't just develop **** mufflers for their vehicles. I will eat crow if you could supply data that those mufflers flow better than factory.

And +1 on Kleemann headers. Easily the most effective power mod for the 55k engine, and will help you out in the noise department.

If you want a cheap muffler, i think the magnaflows are far better than the borlas...

Other mufflers... corsa?

I spoke with corsa about developing mufflers for the w211, because I think they are the best sounding for the money. They told me that they did some testing with the 63 motors and didnt like what they came up with (probably lost HP). I asked if there was anyway to do a one off or a universal setup and they said NO WAY. Their exhaust is perfect for each car they supply for and are worried about drone, HP, ect.

I went with Kleemanns, HP and sound!

Man I took Kleemann headers right out of the picture because I thought you had to take the primaries off. Phew are the headers direct bolt-on to the primary cats?

If I go Magnaflow, I would put the stock res back in place to keep the drone down. I would put either of these depending on AMG tip pipe diameter:

Dude if you have the money to spend on pulley and all that just wait and buy a used set of eisenmann or meisterschaft exhaust and you will know you have a great product that is quality built for the long run. Probably can get one for $1500 if you look long enough. As others have said, headers are also a great option for getting that sound especially since you already removed the secondary cat and resonator.

Thanks for the input man! Im just gonna hold off on the muffler thing for a while. Maybe replace the stock cats before I do headers. Do you know any great HFC that would pass CA smog? I know eurocharged has some but any other companies?

To be honest I am not the best person to ask, but from reading many posts before 200 cell race cats seem to be what a lot of people think are best for our cars. What brand, idk.... Maybe someone else can fill that it for me.

For sure, if you got the money to spend kleeman, eisenmann, meichershaft(sp?) supersprint are all great choices...

$3K for mufflers is just plain dumb. The only way to have a nice catback is to go with a well known muffler manufacturer, and take it to an exhaust shop that has a good rep. They will tig weld everything and make it look oem quality.

I myself like a very deep rumble, and believe it or not, a descent amount of drone at cruising. Highway folk know that you are not stock, and when you go WOT, it will seperate the men from the mice. That been said, I am going with an offroad x pipe setup going into magnaflow magnapacks or SLP Power flow LM II's. I will post a clip soon but chosing an exhaust note is VERY unique to each person taste.

Just please dont waste 3 G's. My last setup cost me $500 and got a **** load of complements and jaw droppings Problem is alot of guys coming into E55's are not familiar with exhaust setups in general, and think the only way to go is to pay over priced premiums to these companies who rip off customers.
