MB & AMG call it a 63 but it is not a 63, () and is deserving of the 55TT marque.

When I buy mine, first thing is a re-badge.

No chit! There philosophy as to why they called it the 63 is so stupid. They say it will not sell as well if they see their neighbor with a 2 year old car and theirs is a 63. Who cares. What a joke!

Mercedes and AMG's badging logic is about as smart as a five year old who is deaf, dumb, and blind lol.

I was told at the AMG factory a couple weeks ago the Bi turbo will not be offered for the E class.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
Looks like a pony intercooler ... again. Actually I cannot even find it...

But an aftermarket FMIC looks possible given the piping work there ....

This engine is great but how the hell are they going to put the power down?MB is nuts with its power plants there putting out.

Most of us with modded e55s have about or a little more power with a very long geared tranny and final drive.

I Dont get traction at all right now in the first 2 gears and 3rd is to long to really have fun in it.Now with a shorter geared 7 speed this engine is going to have the traction control kicking in and torque management pulling power 24/7

I just hope they put an lsd in it.

There is going to be so much electronics kicking in to make this car drivable,I bet the ecu wont give full power untill 4th gear and limit first and second to about 60% just to keep it from spinning like crazzy.

Gosh, kinda hard to dispute that but it doesn't seem to make sense to me. AMG chief said himself, nearly the entire line will be running turbs for fuel economy alone (passing strict Euro emissions)

Would make no sense but Benz has certainly done stupider things. Now that I think about it, all the hype has been about the CLS and they really haven't said a word about the TT E63 to come.

Interesting!

While I was there I saw an S63 and a CL 63 that had the Bi turbo engine in them. Here they are along with some other pics I took in the showroom and outside.

more pics

Here are some pics of the display engine, and a better pic of the info plate. Oh yeah, there is also a pic of the guy that built the engine in my car. It was cool actually getting to meet him.

I agree with the concerns on power delivery. Everyone here has the same issues with traction already not to mention the traction control that strangles these cars to death

I am very interested to see what the new C class power plant will putting down. That car will be a treat to mod with a tune and some cooling mods

c will have 4.7TT engine but upgraded to 490 range hp

E/CLS will get the 5,5TT engine and it has been already anonuced and they are doing some ests on it.

E will also have a minor facelift when the TT engines arrive on its platform.

2004 E55 AMG
Guys, but can't a modded E55 deliver 600HP and 600 Tq now? I get 20-21MPG on freeway and with my mods coming (see sig) won't I have these number, or close to them with a 2004 E55?

Or am I missing something? (Totally possible by the way.)

Thanks.

Alex

The new Porsche 3.9L TT develops 600HP out of the box. What do you think the tuners will do with a 5.5L TT V8? At about 150HP/Litre you're looking at about 850HP.

Guys you wont be able to get much more power out of these new TT v8s there running very high compression.I say maybe a 3-4 psi boost bump before major knock starts kicking in.

Share the same concerns about traction. My car's still stock but with even mild quantities of dust on the road, real pull only manifests from 2nd gear. This is largely why I haven't modded it yet. This 5.5 twin turbo sounds interesting though.

Just had a look at the detailed specs. 544 bhp at 5500 rpm, I like. 590 lb-ft at 2000-4500 rpm, I like even more...!
