Hi. I have been doing a lot of research on this the past week and have found that there are several options. First, yes, you can remove your resonator and replace with straight pipes no problem, and most people use 3" or 2.75". Second, you could also do an x-pipe, but most people as johncy2000 have stated should place it closer to the manifolds. Third, it seems the consensus is that you will lose torque down low if you only remove the resonator, but if you remove the secondary cat it balances out the power loss.

Again, some people use 3" straight pipe or an x-pipe in place of the secondary cat. From doing research I am starting to believe that this is optimal if you are going to remove your resonator, and if you want to keep your exhaust sound exotic or European it is best to use an x-pipe because of how the frequencies or whatever bounce off each other lol. I am just summarizing everything I have read from dozens of threads, so it is basically the consensus from what members on the forum think.

I have a suggestion, since you are a broke college kid, you may want to save what money you have for proper maint. and your first major repair bill.

There's a minuscule sound difference. Its almost non-existent so don't get your hopes up. Save your cash and when you're ready buy a nice exhaust!

I know, but seriously. These are the same people that do all the fun things to their cars, do no maint. and then throw a huge fit and say what a piece of crap the car is when it breaks. Preventative maint. goes a long ways!

P.S. Why don't you pay attention in class so you can learn how to use capital letters and punctuation.

Agree, its a waste of money, it barely makes any sound difference, and causes droning. I wouldnt recommend it.

anyway, back on topic...i deleted my resonator and sec cats and just put an x-pipe where the resonator used to be.

I love the sound difference (admittedly, I wasn't looking for much, just a little more grunt). There was no sound difference after i removed just the resonator, but with both reso and sec cats out, i love it!

you guys dont think removing the resonator makes a difference? I totally disagree.. I removed mine and it is noticeably louder than stock now..
