Select "Resetting of adaption data" and follow the self explanatory instructions on the following 2 pages. The system will ask you if you "wish to reset the adaption data." Select YES.

Makes a really big difference on the 722-6 in my E55 and a huge difference on the 722-9 7G-Tronic I have in the CLK.

I heard not very big difference but certainly worth the ole college try.

722 doesn't baby sit as much as the **** 5 Speed TCU does. It's evil!

The guys from AMG at the SL65BS launch at Laguna Seca said that it only takes about one track lap for the 722.9 transmission to change it's personality.

I have not experimented with those items. If you really want to get serious with the 722's, talk to these folks:

Difference is huge. The shifts are very hard and quick. For some reason the sneaky ECU reset for me feels like it's just to recalibrate the throttle but the adaptation reset feels like the transmission really did turn into a different beast.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what is DAS? And how do I access it to do something like this?

Regards

Question

I asked my local dealer to do the reset and they wanted to charge me $150 to do it giving the following as a reason:

"Although the diagnostic report may only take a few minutes, the vehicle also needs to be driven along the high way with the diagnostic computer attached to the vehicle. This takes two technicians, one to drive the vehicle and the other to adjust the necessary values on the diagnostic computer, this process may take as long as an hour. The charges equate to the time spent adapting the gearbox and not just the time taken to re-set the control units."

Does the adaption reset really require this, or are they being foll of crap again?

thats actually not a bad price at all.but your car will feel the same after they give it back to you.

they are driving around and logging the car and re adapting every gear and shifting while looking at the computer to see if the value changed.

I have a hard shift from 4th to 3rd on very light throttle and need that to get tweaked so I might have the dealer do what they told you.

Why we reset the tranny is because it wakes up the car before it settles down and adapts to everyday driving.
