Damn salt on roads!
I don't mind or care for the snow, but the damn salt ruins the paint and undercarriage of the car! It seems the state has a panic attack when they call for 1-2 inches of snow. Of course, they prematurely put an inch of salt on the roads which can prove to be hazardous and dangerous as well, especially the size of the salt rocks they throw from the trucks. I've already seen cars spinning out and there's barely any snow on the ground.
I quickly came home from work and told my boss I'll be working from home the remainder of the day. I wiped the snow off as best as I could and covered her up.
I can't wait for this crap to clear so I can rinse her off, possibly give it a quick wash, but that probably won't be until the weekend.
Anybody getting hit with the snow on the East Coast and a bunch of idiots being told to throw salt all over the roads?

Where do you live? I am in Indianapolis, and the morons on the road kept me working from home too. With regards to the snow and salt, I have an unlimited wash pass at my local car wash that has high pressure underbody jets, so I take it through there on days where it has to get muck on it.

I'm north of Chicago, and my 63 is my daily driver, unless it's prior to the plows going through. I'll be washing her anytime it gets near freezing to avoid doing any damage to the paint or metals. I just can't stand to watch her sit in salt!

I'm in Maryland.
The snow is supposed to stop by 9 p.m. they're saying now. Great.
I'm hoping by Saturday it'll be all or at least to the point where I can rinse the car off as best as I can with a hose. I'd rather keep it off the roads and all the salt still everywhere. It's staying covered after a quick hose down either tomorrow or Saturday.

I'm in NC. Had a blast driving it this AM. Was passing almost everyone in front of me! I am actually very surprised at how well this car handles in the snow! But, I'm originally from a small town in northwest PA that gets tons of snow every winter... What's worse though, is that on the way home it turned into freezing rain so now my hood is one big sheet of ice and it isn't getting any warmer out yet...

It drives me crazy. Today is the worst day we've had yet with a frozen rainstorm last night. So, the e63 is sleeping today in the garage, but that nasty salt will still be on the roads for some time to come. Makes me sick.

I live in the Chicago suburbs. Salt everywhere. I haven't washed the car in about a month and a half and I probably won't until it gets above freezing again, whenever that is. The car sits outside, gets covered in salt/snow, and I have a blast driving it year round, in all conditions.

Time for the winter hibernation. I hate the salt (I think the car does too) so it's in for the winter, although it loves the cold air. Either March or April it will be out again.

I flew into SDF last night, and drove down to Owensboro, what a ride! I was lucky to snag a Tahoe that did well, but saw quite a few slide offs, as people thought nothing of driving 70 mph because that is the speed limit. At least the roads will be clear when I drive back tomorrow to fly out.

Not a fan of owensboro - no hotels there to my liking!

Yeah, the landing was an adventure, apparently we were using the same runway as the UPS heavies and had a bit of wake turbulence from the DC-10 that was in front of us, but the pilot made a good recovery from the unexpected roll, he caught it at 35-40 degrees of bank, but it was quick.
I'll definitely take you up on the offer for a cold one, next time I'm in town.

They brine in some areas of Maryland. I think its major routes and interstates. Where I live they lay so much salt its piled up in the center of the road AFTER the snow melts

I washed the car yesterday (Sunday). Looks good, most of the salt is gone.
Car is getting washed again on Thurs, then covered until sometime in January unless we get hit w more snow, then it'll stay covered.
Wayne, do you commute on the interstate or side roads mostly?

This is just from local driving. I live a few minutes from Sugarloaf Mtn, in Frederick County.
Clayton (Benzorama) can attest to the amount of salt on my road - the salt was at least 2" deep in the center of the road about 2 miles south of my house. The entire road is white from it.
A real waste of resources ($$), as well as polluting the ground water/plants around the road.

Agreed.
The salt is clearing from the roads here. The forecast says there might be some rain in the next few days, which may wash the salt away.
Having said that, they're calling for light snow on Christmas Day and Sunday.
