sorry,but I just dont understand the concept of spending $500+ on lug nuts to shave a few ounces from a 4200lb car...

 

Think of it this way. Some people don't understand why anyone would buy a $80k car when you can buy a $20k car that gets better mileage and still gets you from point A to point B.

The concept is simple, it's a "I want to, so why the hell do you care if it's my money?" deal.

Maybe because there is a difference between buying the best, and spending money just for the sake of it. These things strike me as one of the douche-iest car accessories to date. "Bro..check out my sick Ti Lugs...they're mad tight yo!"

For the record I would rather have hardened steel lugs on a car for strength, However I will admit those black Ti lugs look pretty..

Also, as mentioned previously, these are not for everyone. If you have a 1999 MB with $800 wheels, yeah don't buy these. If you have a nice car with expensive rims, you are going to want the best. These are the best. These are not for everyone. And that is ok.

 

FWIW I have a 530whp CLS55 and $7000 20" x 20lb RennTech Monoblock wheels...I would not buy these....unless they were around the $100 to $150

I can understand the idea behind quality bolts of any kind, i.e. ARP tool steel head stud kits for $400+ a set, and I can surely recognize the quality of your product, those things look absolutely amazing. I also understand the R&D time and tooling costs required to turn out such a product, but I have to agree with my fellow members here, the price is hard to justify to offset the performance gains you might get from these. The arugment of 'some folks just want the best' is also viable, however, I believe a bit overoptimistic on this type of product.

Is there a way to scale down anything in the manufacturing side, or perhaps lengthen the amount of time your business model projected to recoup costs in order to set these at a more realistic price point? That may help you gain some more market interest, but right now, I have to admit these things wouldn't be on my list of 'must haves' anytime soon.

More power to the OP. I appreciate them bringing something as different as titanium lug nuts to our group of benz's.

I would of considered them if I had a nice set of wheels but for the time being, I'm on stockies. I think it would have been a great addition to my next set of wheels in which had a lightweight theme. No point on slappin these guys on stockies. So many things I want to change on the ride but life keeps throwin lemons. So I'm makin lemonade with it. Oh well.

Again...kudos to the OP for offering these on our ride.

$500 is the wrong price point ...

As mentioned round 100-150$ is about right I would guess.

Only reason I might consider getting these is rust prevention... my current lugs showing some signs... the fact they are not lockable is a deal breaker even at $100....

 

No way will Ti lug bolts come in at $100-150 retail for a set of 20. 6/4 Ti is too expensive for that to happen.

As far as performance goes... the incremental performance benefits of these lugs would be so low as to be damn-near immeasurable. Rotational weight savings is great - but is more meaningful the further it occurs from the center of rotation.

The market for Ti lug bolts is analogous to jewelry for your car. Some people would buy them just to have them... nothing wrong with that; while I wouldn't personally, I'm a firm believer in "to each his own."
