Thunderbolt Race Cats

Hey guys I just bought thunderbolt 300 Cell race cats for my car. I will be installing PLM Headers, EC 180mm pulley, H/E and CM30 on Tuesday. Is the install pretty much straight forward? Just cut the stock cats off and replace with my new ones? How many O2 sensors are there near the cats? These High Flow cats don't have an O2 bung. Can I tell my tuner to eliminate the o2 sensors and then install the cats after the tune? Thanks guys.

you will have to fab up a set of down tubes with the stock factory flanges. it is going to be a lot of work. the e55 has a total of 4 o2 sensor. one before and one after the cats. you will need 02 bungs for the pre and post cats sensors. the post cat sensors can be turned off by the tuner but the electrical connection to the harness has to still be present.
hopefully the person installing the headers know how to fab stuff up from the stock flanges, since you will need those to mate you high flow cats to the lpm headers.

I'm kinda confused. so I should cut in between the sensors then replace it with my HFC. Then cut the back o2 bung and weld it after the new cats? Or just cut the o2 sensor off itself and tape up the wires.

you will have to get new o2 bungs to make the job eaiser.

remembers the race cats are straight, and the piping to the stock cats is at an angle. so you will have to fab up those bends.

This sounds like a very hard thing to do. I just don't understand how so many other people have done this. lol

Or what if I made a straight pipe after the front sensors and then got an 02 harness extender to reach behind the HFC and weld the cats on further back.

The od for the pipes that go into stock cats is not 3 inch. So you may have to flare the pipe. People put race cats on long tube. Kleemann headers come with down pipes so you can weld cats on them. I have rarely see people mate race cats without an aftermarket flange to shorty headers

O. How bout the whole moving the cat back more and using an 02 extender. (I dont know which one but I think I would use a 4 wire round extender) Would that work?
