Finally need my first parts replaced outside of warranty: Motor mounts and bushings

Hi all,

I have an '04 E55 AMG with roughly 57k miles. I need new motor mounts and bushings. Would you say this would be a decent price, or should I go to an independent shop and order the parts from parts.com?

My dealership has quoted me the following:

Motor mounts- 7.5 hours= $750
Parts= $307

Solid bushings- 4.5 hours= $390.02
Parts= $82

Does this seem like a fair estimate, or should I look elsewhere?

Best regards,

Wes

I just did motor and tranny mount. I paid $99 + shipping for brand new mounts from ebay(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...item20b5c8958b) I spoke to the seller and he buys these direct from the manufacturer before they go to the dealers in the US. I had a European Automotive shop do the install and they charged me for 4.5 hours of labor at a cost of $337.50 total to do both motor mounts and the tranny mount.

Regards,
Todd

Now THAT is what I like to hear. Thanks, Todd!

Edit: The listing has been removed. Do you happen to know his Ebay name? Thanks in advance!

Nvm: For some reason, it's back up. Ordered.

In regards to bushings, what do you think they're talking about?

I read that those are actually a Chinese manufactured part, I searched for info on the Hamburg tecnik and found this info out.

Just an FYI

I guess I'll be the test mule to see how they do. My installer said they looked like an exact match to OEM and he saw no issues with installing them. They had a set of OEM mounts in stock and he never once seemed to think I needed to pay more for his OEM units. I'll certainly report back after a few thousand miles with the results.

Good thing. I probably needed them at the last service I had(different dealership), but as long as it wasn't imperative, they weren't fixing anything. The person told me that said items would have to be replaced soon, but not yet. FWIW, that was 3 days before my CPO expired.

Butttt, that's another story altogether.

I just did all three mounts over the weekend as a DIY type project and it really helped take care of some of the vibrations I felt. The right mount was fine but the left was shot. It looked fine until I turned it to the side and all the oil ran out onto the floor. Total cost of the parts was about $240 from one of the MB parts sponsors.

His wife crazy
I just had my F service done, along with the mounts and bushings. Without the CSC, I would have been 1300+out of pocket, instead of just $200.00.

Independent shop labor charges= $75 an hour, and closer to home.
Dealership labor charges=$100 an hour.

No brainer.

I had my motor and tranny mounts changed, cost me $260.00 for parts and labor. Genuine Mercedes parts. Oh yeah I replaced them myself, left side is a *****. Entire exhaust had to be dropped. took me about 2 1/2 hours with a floor jack.

you're lucky.
indy in SF area over $100 already, and MB up to $135-140+.
sadly, dealers are paying the workers a tiny fraction of that.

I know, it is sad. They're the ones busting their knuckles and sometimes risking their lives to keep out cars on the road.
