Took my car to the dyno, I'm kinda disappointed.

My car has the secondary cats removed and the resonator removed. I also installed a magnaflow X-pipe in the process. Everything else is 100% stock.

Car put down 395whp and 437wtrq SAE on a Dynojet in 3rd gear ( 4th would get to the top speed limiter ). A/F ratio was pretty decent up until 5Krpm where it would DUMP fuel...It would max out the widebands limit at 9.0:1. Is this even normal?

I expected about 20-30 whp more than this due to dynojets tending to read kinda high. I notice that my car would loose power pretty badly after 5.5Krpm sometimes yet sometimes it would feel fine. My SC belt shrieks sometimes when I let of the gas for a split second, do you guys think my belt could be slipping? I know my I/C pump is fine cause I can hear it operating for a few seconds when I shut the car off.

Anything I should look for? I got beat by a 6-speed BMW 335 coupe with 375whp/395wtrq today.

Not normal, you need to check your Iats , high iats will cause the ecu to dump fuel.

9.0:1 a/f ratio is not normal. Hows your I/C pump?

Is there a way to check without a scanner? I don't have one at the moment. My pump seems to be working though, at least I can hear it.

Here is the dyno graph:

Can the intercooler pump SOUND okay but not work? It does sound awfully loud.

I don't know a way to check it without a scanner, maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in. I will tell you this though, no chance of making good power at 9.0:1.

I know 9.0 ( or actually, less than 9.0 ) is ridiculous. I don't even know how it doesn't misfire ( I guess having two plugs per cylinder helps ).

I can hear my intercooler pump standing in front of my car with my engine on, is this normal?

Where are you located? If you're in the DC Metro we can meet up and use one ofy scanners. You should probably buy one of your own, if you plan on keeping this car. It's
a must have IMO.

Thanks, I'm really close....I live in Puerto Rico.

What scanner would you recommend?

There's lots to choose from, but for my needs I use the Autoenginuity for data logging. I also just picked up a Scangauge II, for real time, in-car monitoring (but no logging)

Yes, it was.

Is there any way to tell if my SC belt is slipping? It's got 50K miles but looks to be in pretty good condition.

change belt every 2nd oil change. use a gates heavy duty greeb back belt to reduce slip.

bleed your secondary cooling system. if there is air pockets in it IATs will go up and car will dump fuel to compensate

+1, We have had guys say that the car felt modded after popping on a new belt after 40K or so on stocker.

One of the hands down easiest things to do as well. There is a DIY on the forum. I can do it in under 60 secs now.

398 is lower but not end of the world lower bro. Also stock ECU will begin to dump fuel to "save the engine" after 5k. Your does look a bit extreme though!!

Here is a car very similar to yours

Here is an upper scale stock beast. Check his air fuels, they dump but not violent like yours. Check your IATs for sure.

dynos are only good for tunning, take the car to the track and see what it runs/traps.

I would think your numbers are low especially since this was on a Dynojet. I am 100% stock and on my buddies "heartbreaker" Dyno Dynamics dyno, i put down 391WHP and 442WTQ.

Dynos vary so much from machine to machine and from day to day I wouldn't be too concerned with the numbers. The guy with the 335i could have added weight to his trunk or been in a different gear, both of these and more can skew dyno numbers massively. Go try another one if it's really bothering you, or if the car feels down on power then have it checked out.

For real, I had 404whp on Dyno Dynamics being stock, then I put headers and other stuff and got 434whp on Mustang...

I can lend you my dashdaq. It reads the IAT's, boost, well a whole bunch of useful information. We just have to meet up sometime. Maybe at Predator Performance. I can't make it to the Sneaky track day in Ponce so that is out. I will be in Salinas on the 23rd.

Nice, someone else from PR. I'm going to the sneaky event on saturday but apparently I work on sunday ( not sure yet ).

Thanks for the offer BTW, but I just bought a scanner ( Autoenginuity, waiting for it to arrive ).

Hope to see you around.

Get an innovate OT-2 much cheaper and way faster that the dashdaq.

BTW, you guys are leaving MAJOR power on the table with that over rich lambda. Proper recurving of the fuel tables alone would net you a large gain..............

It's possible that the pump is running but not circulating like it should. My dyno's are sad compared to what I see on the forums but they don't have them dyno'ed in P.R. I suspect lots of "special treatment" to get the numbers I sometimes see. Ice on the supercharger, 35º ambient temperatures etc. The first mod you should do IMO is a new I/C pump (cheap) and meth. injection. Then you can wave bye bye to the BM's. I don't have time after the Rental to realign my car for the road course and I have no traction at the drag strip with the road course alighment. I hope to line up with you one of these days. I have a feeling I'll be seeing taillights but hey, it's all in fun unless it's in Mexicu.
