MBH LTH lower price
#53
i would love to know who made up definition. and what is "extending past the final bend?" If you like smashing your collector off a speed bump then you will have to build a header that requires o2 extensions. Remember when headers came out there was no o2 sensors and there was a lot more room. If by someones definition the collector has to be under the chassis, You've had your nose in the Jegs catalog to long. Just because the tubes are not under the chassis does not mean the tubes (primaries) are not long. Definitions found on forum sites are worse than quoting Wikipedia as fact.
Regarding the above, I will agree with Ghazan in that these headers are actually midlengths. How long is the longest primary on these headers?

This is coming from someone who is new to the site so take it with a grain of salt. It appears you have a great header design in relation to no CEL's, no fitment issues, etc. The real issue appears to be the price , I know we are driving Mercedes here but that much for a set of headers makes even someone like myself with a decent amount of "toy play money" cringe. Since the jig would be essentially the same why not offer a mild steel coated set as well? Cracking could be virtually eliminated with a small flex section . It would seem you could offer both and have multiple areas of the market covered without much more in R&D since the same jig could be used.
Just food for thought,

I stick with the mantra of "if I wouldn't put it on my car I wont offer it" I understand these headers are not for everyone

Why not do it if your customers want it? It is not like they are going to fall apart. I think you could bring the price down by at least $1k. Seems like there is some other reasoning besides you wanting to not sell what you would not put on your car.

Miley how do you figure the price could drop a g? Personally for what these are I think it's a great deal for the quality of product you are getting.
He'll Renntech headers are above this ballpark... And people still buy those without a complaint so why, especially if Hooley isnt willing to compromise his product, could he drop the price more than his sale price?

Yeah, I don't think it is realistic to drop the price $1K for coated mild steel long tube headers. With that said, I do think it is smart business to offer products that people obviously want, even though it may go against your own personal taste.

I cater to the people who want stuff made out of the best materials. Is that going to be everyone? No. Its really this simple, I like nice things and I'm willing to pay for it. I wont stand behind a product I wouldn't use. That philosophy rings true with everyone involved with MBH. When it comes to headers for me? Its stainless of nothing.
When it comes to companies that sell headers you never see "mild steel" in their name, but you do see "stainless". Imagine names like "Burns Mild Steel" or "Mild Steel works".

I could rattle off a bunch or reasons why not to use mild steel. However there are no more reasons why I choose to make stainless steel headers other than the fact that I don't want mild steel headers on my car. I'm not in the biz of widening my customer base. We are very busy as is. With that said there is no such thing as an MBH customer and a mild steel header.

Wow,,,,way to crap on a sponsors thread. I cant understand why if you choose to buy the cheap crap, why you come and crap on the good stuff. To each is their own. If you dont want to pay to play then just dont. But dont crap up the thread. There are a few wana be's in this thread and the reason they bargain shop is because they are on the verge of not even being able to afford the car in the first place. That is fine, but why throw stones when you live in a glass house?
