Been discussed ad nauseum.
Conti Extreme DWS is what I outfit all my vehicles with, for the cold months. Amazing all-season tires.

I went with a set of Kumhos for a lot less money and am quite happy with them. That said, we do have true snow tires (Blizzaks) on MSW wheels for the winter, but I might sell them as we really just park the E55 in the worst weather. I usually drive the 996 when it gets bad.

Continental Extreme Contact DWS is what I used to drive through that North East blizzard we had after Christmas. I can tell you this is definitely a great tire for all season and some snow, well in my case alot of snow. I'm going to outfit my c63 with these same tires.

+1. I like them because they also have a warranty on them so if you burn them up before the stated warranty of like 45k miles...you can get the next set at a pro-rated price, which is like almost a given driving on an AMG. I plan on getting like maybe 15k-20k miles at most, so the next set should be like half off, if anything its an excuse to drive even harder

I also have the Continental DWS all season. I actually put that warranty to use: The person who mounted the tires on my rims clipped one of the edges of the tire, and it pretty much lost air and I drove on it before I saw what happened. Sidewall was damaged a bit, so I opted to call tirerack. They sent me a new tire right away and refunded me for the damaged one, all I paid was shipping. It was all done in less than a week or so!
I've been driving them in the blizzard conditions recently, and freezing rain, and they perform very well. Stays on the road and has good traction with careful driving.

right now im looking at the DWS continentals, because of the warranty. but what are the conditions? i mean, whats to stop someone from using them as cheap drift tires? and does a flat due to road conditions count as replaceable?

Go with the Conti DWS. I had the Yokohamas. They're great for 10K and then they make a terrible racket. The Conti's seem to be the only tires I've had that don't cup after 10K. They're very quiet and great in snow.
