Depends how high. Once they have more than 50,000 miles resale takes a hit but I would worry about the engine until at least three times that. Mine is my daily driver so I'm not too concerned. Had it for 3 years, done 45,000 with just a creaky roof and an odd transmission noise to complain about. Will probably keep it for another year or two and/or 20,000 to 30,000 more miles. The 18s bend/crack a little easily on potholes, I've bent two.
Make sure car has full MBSH and has had no paintwork or modifications. Get an MB warranty, you'll love it. My car has the p30 option and the only thing I'd improve is the very slow responses of the 7 speed in manual/paddle mode.

Motor and drive train aren't much of a worry assuming the car wasn't abused (oil changes, never driven over 3k rpms until oil temp reached, etc..)
It's the electronics and the little things that add up with repair costs. Same with BMW. Also maintenance esp brakes is fairly high (compared to a non-AMG car.)
It's worth buying a dealer's CPO'd car for a little bit more $$ and getting the extended warranty that comes with CPO'd cars.
fwiw, I have the stock 18" rims and haven't had any cracking/bending issues. And the roads are in crappy condition here (SoCal.) I once went to a wheel vendor (a Porsche specialist) who said my OEM wheels are made by Fuch and he felt they were stronger than most; he said I didn't need 'better' rims since the Fuchs are well built.

At over 53,300 miles, my '07 E63 is solid as a rock. No issues. Look for one with a warranty if possible, or buy an extended warranty. I would not be scared of one with 'higher mileage' as long as it was properly maintained.

And yes, rims bend, although I suspect the tire installer but could not prove.

There was a mini article on the AMG website (approx. 8 months ago) about the first E63 in Germany hitting the 250,000 miles mark. The E63 engine is incredibly reliable; it is not too stressed or too pushed to the limits by any means, so I suspect reliability and durability of parts are not a problem.
