Keyless Go Engine start

Keyless Go Engine start
I purchased my E55 last year and was wondering if my Keyless Go engine start was an option or was removed. I can open my doors with the key in my pocket, but does nothing when I step on the brake and press the engine start button on the shifter. The previous owner said the engine start never worked for him. Any thoughts on this? I'm completely lost with this issue. Thanks

I doubt that it was removed, but most likely just a defective Keyless Go. You should have it diagnosed as it might be the shifter (the case with mine) or something more involved. Depending on where you reside, you might actually find good recommendations from this forum on who can take a look-see for you.
Good Luck...

SDS might be able to see if there is a problem. The dealer would be able to hook it up and check.
Otherwise, you're more than welcomed to try out the shift knob I have for sale to see if would work for your car. If it works, pay me for the knob. If not, you don't have to buy it. I'd charge you a 6 pack of beer for my time thought. Kidding.

Do you still have the shifter?

If you want to remove the button, just remove the ashtray (if applicable) and pull up on the lip on the wood around the shift knob, and it should pop right off allowing access to the button
