CLS55 wheel/tire fitment on E55?
I purchased a set of CLS55 wheels/tires today. For the price, I could not pass them up. I've researched the fitment online and seem to have conflicting information. The tires are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with the 25/28 CLS offset, based on the part numbers I can see in the wheel pictures. The tires are the factory 255-35-19 and 285-30-19.
Will these bolt on and be fine on my E55 or will I have to swap the tires to 245's and 275's? I'd like to hear from those that actually run/ran this setup as far as how bad the rubbing will be, when it will rub, rubbing only in the rear, front, etc.
My E55 is only lowered in the front using the washer method and I had planned to use STAR to drop the front/rear a tad bit more.
Thanks in advance - Todd

Are you running 35 or 30 series 285's?
Do you think a 255 in the front might cause any issues?
Are you lowered and if so, how much?
Any pictures you can email or post of them on the car?
Thanks much,
Todd

Thanks for the pictures and confirming fitment. I guess the big question is will the 285's fit... I won't get them for another week but, hoping they will fit without much rubbing and I'll drop down to a 275 when I lower the rear.
Thanks,
Todd

Yes sir.
Also they are 245 35 19 in the front and 285 30 19 in the rear. They are my backup wheels when Iam not using the HRE's. I love the way they set the car off. I dont even want to powdercoat or paint them because they look so good as is.

255 will rub in the front with CLS/SL offsets.... i had that problem for a few weeks and it would catch and pull my fenders if i went over bumps while turning. I got 245s and problem solved. Hope that helps

I have those wheels too. Love the looks, but they are prone to bend. I have tried to repair them.. but its a never ending battle.
the offset is a bit aggressive... but works fine.
245/35
275/30
Hankook Ev12
and I'm lowered.

The wheels and tires arrived last night. I had a chance this afternoon to install them and drive it around for a while. Much to my relief, they don't rub at all. My car isn't lowered as much as some others but, I put it through the paces and could not get them to rub. The offset is definitely aggresssive, especially on the rear. I'll eventually move down to a 275 but, I'm in no hurry. The chrome is a little more bling than I'm use to but, the car is pretty bland as far as exterior modifications so I think it looks pretty good.
Here are a few pictures, again on 255-35-19/285/30/19 Bridgestone tires.
