Is there an update to see radio station song/artist info?
Is there an update to the Command that would show the display of song name/artist or is it a hardware issue?
Maybe a dumb question but have always wondered this since I bought the beast a year ago. I was expecting to have this feature.

In my 07 E63 the sirius will show info if you push [sat] then info, idk if it works for CDs or radio. I listen to Sirius or my shuffle hooked to the aux jack. Wish I could get the aux routed in to the small "cigar box" next to the glovebox

I drop signal in one area all the time that isn't even in a tunnel/overpass... It's a two lane road though with pretty dense foliage on either side, but it never fails... My wife's 09 C300 is even worse though... It loses signal much more frequently... As previously mentioned, it is all about antenna placement and strength!!!
I have always wondered about an update for RDS info as well... Would be great to have the Artist/Title information as does Sirius. Now that I think about it, I don't think my wife's C300 has RDS info either... Hmmm... I know I have the latest software for both my COMAND and NAV so it doesn't sound like an update is available...

I'm thinking it's hardware not software why we can't get the info. Seems very strange as the technology is pretty much standard going back many years.

I don't buy that it's the hardware. I am willing to bet that a firmware/software update would enable this... It's just a radio signal... The unit just has to know what to do with that signal...

They're talking about the non-US COMANDs, etc.. I guess the question is if it's software, then how can that be applied to US COMANDs?
fwiw, from that same website is a FAQ on the pre-2009 COMAND:
___________________________
7. What's the difference between US and European COMAND systems?
They seem to be the same hardware with different software. US systems do not support RDS text, they use US frequency spacing between stations on FM/AM radio, they support satellite radio and the TV button is blanked out (although can be enabled by the dealer). You can install a European system in a US vehicle, then you get RDS. It should be possible for the Mercedes dealer to configure ('code') the Comand using their star diagnosis workshop computer to tell it to use US frequency spacing for the radio. I'm not convinced that Teleaid will work on European Comand systems installed in US vehicles so you should check that it does.

The 2009 US COMAND does support RDS, but it is different hardware all together than the earlier COMANDs.
PM or email Steve at MBenzNL. He should know for sure http://www.mbenznl.nl/
