Well, today was a nice day.

We had some nice cool weather followed by light rainfall.

My kind of weather given the absurd heat in L.A.

I was on my way to pick up some lunch when a lexus driver decided it was best to make a left turn without worrying about that silly oncoming traffic.

Needless to say, my day was ruined as I attempted to brake but in the end hit them doing around 25mph followed by a psychotic mother of the driver screaming at me until police arrived.

In short, police said i was not at fault because they failed to check for oncoming traffic, and that I was clearly not going around 60mph as the lady claimed or I would have killed/seriously injured them and I myself would have gone into a solid marble pillar.

Driver complained of pains even though the passenger side was hit and cop said she was being over-dramatic.

Aside from all that I kept my cool and snapped a couple photos with my Iphone before they towed her away.


TLDR: Lexus drivers leave their cars running without noticing and now turn without looking.

 

So sorry to hear. Glad you're okay. As I get older (35) I see now what all those people who were yelling at me when I was a teenager was about. Driving is a lot about experience. Kids have less.

Hope it works out for you, and they give you a SLS AMG as a loaner!

Man that sucks, glad you are okay though. I guess the crazy mother doesn't know that the car turning left almost never has the right-away.

 

What is that Oakhurst and Wilshire I'd say? That sucks bro. I drive up and down Wilshire every day baffled at these peoples complete disregard for other cars on the road. Well, at least you're ok. Did you pick up any chicks while you were waiting on the side of the road?

Glad you are Ok. Did it look like there was damage to any major part or was it all just cosmetic.
It looks like your front wheel is unscratched so hopefully no damage to the axle.

I am truly sorry to hear that. I can only imagine how upset you must be. I am told alot of times that certain things happen for a reason, I can't imagine a explanation for this one, but maybe you were saved from something worse.

As for the Beast, do a little homework and find out what body shop does the best work regardless of price. Make sure you fix her up nice!

Sorry about your car, glad you are OK, make sure to replace as many suspension parts (airmatic both sides) as you can get with the adjuster and explain it needs to be repaired right the first time.

Left turn never has right of way, one of the most basic rules of the road, speaks to the ignorance of the other party involved. Get a lawyer and go to the doctor, I say this because I had same, and injury showed up years later.

 

Man, that is 2 55s taken out this month by stupid Lexus drivers. I nearly missed a Tiburon that pulled out in front of me 20 minutes ago.

 

Look on the bright side. With the Lexus driver's lack of skill, and lack of taking ownership, they will probably be poisoned by carbon monoxide in the not too distant future by forgeting to turn off their car with keyless go...Karma will make it right...

I had the same thing happen when a lady slammed into my ZO6. She got out of the car yelling at me accusing me of speeding. She hit me in the rear quarter panel...how does that equate to speeding? The cop wasn't buying it.

People are just stupid...I like them less and less.

The only chick I saw was what seemed to be a reporter in her car waiting in traffic snapping photos.


I popped the hood right after the accident and the whole engine compartment is fully intact, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no damage to the chassis at all given how strong the w211 frames are.

The front driver axle arm is definitely screwed considering the wheel could not be turned and the way the cars hit.


Are you saying I might be able to get the shop to update the front bumper??

Any other advice on talking with the insurance adjuster about the damage and parts replacement is welcome.

Also, as taboo as it is I was still considering taking the car to MB of Beverly Hills because of how close it is. I know it's a stealership but because their insurance will be covering the repairs/payout on the car should I take it there?

I have heard horror stories from stealerships but nothing from MB of Beverly Hills other than that they charge hella labor and parts.

I also have a good body shop buts it's a bit of a trek.

Any suggestions?

That seems like a good idea, but I love my e55, I know it's history, love it's colour, year "05 e55" just sounds nice. Finding another one that's the same colour/year/good history.

Also this e55 has shown good stock numbers compared to other stock/tuned 55's on the same dyno.

It's like asking me to give up part of myself, another 55 would not be the same.
