scuffing the underside of the front spoiler/chin/bumper
It finally happened today...I was pulling into the office parking lot a little too quickly, where there is a slight uphill entrance, and I didnt slow down enough and heard the underside of the front bumper/spoiler/chin scrape the ground. CRAP. Sure enough, I got out and looked under and had some very subtle scrapes in the painted plastic. Not visible unless you're on your hands and knees, but still....a mental downer.
Just curious...do most of you have a few scrapes underneath the front chinny chin chin from angled entrances, etc., and have any of you been **** retentive enough to have them repainted at some point?
I am guessing I was just lucky to find a 3 year old car without a scrape underneath, as I did. But still....i was pissed (at myself).

Been there and done that...on both MB's. As a matter fact, I have a back up front lip spoiler sitting in my office for the SL when I F up again...It'll be my 3rd spoiler lip for the SL and I'm on my second one on the E.
I'd repaint them if they weren't CF...if they weren't CF I'd be repainting them at least once a year. Just goes with the territory...what is worse is running into the those concrete parking stops...that is a much worse feeling than the scrapes!

You must have got jacked for the spoiler lip...I can't see you not feeling the lip flying off.

Mine has a few light ones as well and one deeper gouge right into the yellow polyurethane bumper. I still recall when it happened.
Thinking about doing the E63 front bumper/grill conversion and just wondering if the clearance is identical to the E55 bumper?

I was always cautious about scraping my front lip, but after the first one, I just let it go and drove the car. I still watch out but not as much. I have another spare front lip sitting in the garage for later.

You fellas are lucky already....I must've hit a dam pothole or something but I really don't recall hitting anything, and initially thought, whatever it's just the front lip thats scratched if anything I'll just get another one....Next thing you know I wondering why one side of my bumper is lower than the other lol.....Of course I find out that it literally ripped/split my actual bumper with the lip....fcking ny roads!!
