Drove my E63 on black ice today (had to)...

Pretty scary. Caught me by surprise shortly after leaving home. Got caught in an uphill since traffic had stopped due to an accident. Forty five minutes to go about 500 feet!! Funny how in the end I was the only car in the uphill trying to go up (the police had blocked the intersection behind). Curiously, the revs never got over 2000 no matter what I did. No way on turning around to go home, the trip back would have been scarier (downhill, and I still had to finish the uphill to turn around).
Anyone has being on ice before with the beloved beast??

Can't say that I have been on black ice, but snow yes. These cars have many safety features to try and save you, if you get over your head. But black ice is a whole different animal. Nothing can save you on that stuff.

LOL! No, it was in Michigan, I haven't changed my location. I can tell you, the yellow triangle warning light for no traction went off today for the worth of the next 4 years!!!

Second winter here in Boston and no problems with my beast.
Snow tires work perfect.
btw, snow tires worked perfectly on all rear wheels cars a drove, including M5 and E63

Agree, with snow tires in snow= great fun, snow tires on ice= useless. I've been tackling snow here in MI this winter with no issues as long as it's not too high, but the ice is another story...

Had to drive mine in the snow "storm" in atlanta earlier this year with *****ty tires. Never hated torque minus LSD more than I did that day. Wouldn't move without killing esp but was quite an experience.
