Pano Roof - Creaks
Someone told me once to not get the Pano roof and now I am "hearing" the reason. The name mostly closely describing the noise the roof makes is creaking. This annoyance is happening more and more frequently and is really embarrassing with passengers. This sounds more structural than something a simple "lube job" would help. Any thoughts would be appreciated prior to a stealer visit. Thanks in advance.

I found mine by sitting in the back seat while my wife was at the wheel. Mine was a weak noise like rubbing parts. I tilted the window and the noise went away. I took a paper towel with wd-40 and lightly went around the portion that touches the rubber gasket at the back of the window and it cured it. Quiet again. Hope this helps.

fwiw, when I did my 20k service the dealer did a "pano roof service." I asked my SA about it and he said they do it as part of the service and it's a "cleaning" and lube.
I don't get any creaks except on a really tilted incline at very slow speeds (like at an angle over a steep parking entrance.)
But I think they all will creak eventually. Plus there's a lot of weight up there; I rarely use it and would never order a new car with it. I rather not even have a sunroof. Give me a CF roof

Good to know, Had the same thing begin to happen with my car, it does get really annoying, sometimes I even hear noises from the seats.
My wife says she's used to it, her 3rd MB that makes noise.
I'll ask the dealer to take care of it next time I go in for service.

Learnt a long time ago that not everything has to be fixed. Sometimes you could end up with worse issues. Decided to leave my creaking pano alone. Like the man said, turn up the music...or alternatively open the windows and floor the loud pedal...!

Reminds me of my father's S class back in '75. The car was delivered with a 'screeching' sound that manifested each time the car was started from the cold. Somehow, despite belt adjustments and changes the problem kept coming back. Eventually, when we noticed the snag was exclusive to the S class, we came to regard it as an idiosyncracy...and since the S was a pretty big deal back then, almost a badge of distinction...!
I think I've almost managed to convince myself my creaking pano roof is something like that...!

Where are we lubing? Do you have any DYI this? I do not have the problem but why not get some silicone rubber spray on the mount to keep them soft.

I had a E350 with a Panoramic Roof. The biggest issue with the roof, is that it is a structural member of the whole roof support, so the glass is going to flex and creak and squeak. It's inevitable, lubricate it helps alot, but the issue will eventually reappear. Vice I didn't keep that car long. The annoyance became intolerable for me, although I love the glass roof, but not the hassle it caused.

You can do what one forum member did. Remove the pano roof and apply plasti-dip to all the metal to metal points of contact. Keep in mind this is not a task for the weekend wrench monkey.
