I have Nexens in the front and they do fine in the front. I would never put them in the rear though since they aren't exactly grip monsters. I have Toyo T1R's in the rears and they still don't offer too much traction. I'll probably go with Nitto NT05's or Toyo R888's when these go bald. When the nexens go bald, I may just get another set. I don't car much about my front tires...lol. They turn and brake fine.

Went thru 4 sets of NT-05's and put these on a couple hundred miles ago. Everything people said is true, they are awesome tires for the money. I haven't messed around with PS2's or Contis since id rather have the "extreme summer performance" tires, but these Hankooks are pretty amazing for an $830 w/ shipping set of tires...

I just put Hankooks on the rear as one of my Bridgestone's blew on the highway.
The launch is much better and so far i like them much better than some of the expensive tires I've blown through over the years.

Honestly in a straight line I think it's better, but I also think my NT's just had way too many heat cycles to run great in normal driving and I ran the pressure higher for handling. Were you at the Conrad Condado tonight..? I saw a black E55 in valet with 19" 63 reps...

Brand new, before track time the NT05's are great is more the answer. Since you just want them on the street you'll never really heat cycle them so they should hook better for you.

I thought the Toyo T1R's would hook pretty good but they spin spin spin. If I go WOT of a concrete road, I can get crazy wheel spin at anything under 60mph. If I go WOT on an asphalt road, then anything under 40mph is wheel spin city. It's kinda dangerous at times.
I thought maybe the NT05's were my best bet for a sticky street tire but fear they would be soap in the rain ( it rains here about 200 days a year ).

Yeah NT's in the rain aren't so hot. Starting out at 6/32 doesn't leave a lot of tread for the puddles, but in wet not raining conditions they were great.

Holy confusion batman. One guy recommends a tire, another guy says it sucks for hooking up on launch. Any consensus here on what's a good tire anymore other than PS2's?
For instance, I was told Toyo T1R's are the shiz by one member, now GT-ER says they're awful.
Are NT05's decent in the rain?

No offense, but you don't have a 55k or a 63, so I'd really like to hear from the guys who are putting a good amount of power down. Traction off the line is an issue for me, at times, when some dbag in a Scion gets tough.

I guess the real problem is that drag tires need soft and large sidewalls to stick and my 19's won't allow for either thus the lack of tires available that'll fit a 19" wheel and stick. The Nitto NT05's are about as agressive as I can find, along with the Toyo R888...but don't know how much better they really are to my toyo's.

I don't think they are aweful, they are as good as the Falken RT615's I had ( which is supposed to be a competition tire ) but I guess having 500+lbft of torque at under 3000rpm really doesn't make life easy on a 275 tire.

I have the Nexens up front which do fine for what I want them for, but the for the rears I don't know what to do.

Starts to get fun around the third page.
And yes I'm talking about street tires.

Your observations are correct here, these cars should have had wider rear fenders for more rubber. 275's are just not adequate for this kind of power even if they're made out of superglue. I'm really looking for something with good wear characteristics, great dry traction and enough wet traction to keep me on the road, that ISN'T $400 per rear tire.
How about Yokohama Envigors? I guess it also depends on how spirited your normal driving is

Edit: Oh and seems you missed the fun that was sub786 with his 320 rebadged to an E55. By the end he was calling people dumdums
