Did some logging yesterday - need input
Essentially:
Random question for any of you Houstonians: I did some pulls with my OBD2 reader and laptop today [obdscan apex], and had some questions about IAT's and Coolant Temps.
Ambient is 81*: Did 3 pulls from 40 to 100, IAT's maxed out around 140*F and within 10 seconds had dropped to around 105* each time, which is where they stayed cruising. The only thing that took them below 105* for the entirety of my drive was sitting idling at a stoplight.
My coolant on the other hand...didn't drop below 180* even after sustained highway driving, and jumped to just above 200*F during the pulls. Is this normal operating temperature for coolant?
Apologies in advance for no excel files/graphs...it was my intent to post a fancy set of graphs of my pulls but the software I'm running with my scanner screwed the pooch...it asks me what I want to save my data files as after I stop logging, and for some reason can't write to the default folder [without giving me the option to save elsewhere...I assume it's a permissions problem].
Only changes from stock are a Jerry box tune, S55 Driver's tube, and if it matters, I took out the grille over the H/E because another one of my tabs broke off [taking me down to 3].
Could be the following a stuck thermostat, failing cooling fan and lastly a blown head gasket through which exhaust gases are leaking and heating the coolant up on runs (but i highly doubt it is the head gasket)

So my IAT temps are money, couldn't be happier with the temps as ambient was 78*F-81*F for the entirety of my drive.
However, regardless of whether I'm doing pulls, sitting in traffic, or cruising at 60mph, my coolant is almost always north of 190*F.
Is there a way to further diagnose what the culprit is?
Thanks for the read, and your time.
I had a 180d thermostat and the car threw codes for engine coolant to cold in the winter months.
your coolant never dropped below 180 because it has a 190d thermostat on her

I'll let Shardul take a look when I see him later today. AFAIK the first owner didn't split the cooling [he is an anesthesiologist in New Hampshire, where I bought the car last October]

For some reason this scanner won't pull AFR for me like it did on my previous car.
