Haha indeed, but will completely be worth it the first time I hear that system!
Will do! I have the techs taking pictures for me and updating me every day, so hopefully will be a pretty active build thread!
One question though, does anyone know how much the rear rubber seal is around the trunk area opening? Mine has a small crack in it, and for an Infinite Baffle setup the trunk needs to be completely sealed, just wondering if that would make a difference or how much a new one was? Thanks!

Is that what you're referencing, the weatherstripping?

Dealer Price Core Price Savings Final Price $73.00 N/A $22.98 $50.03
Since parts.com charges a minimum of 10.99 shipping on all orders, you'll only save $12 by ordering from them. See if you can get one from your dealer if they have them in stock, and it won't delay your build either!

My box is ported and yes, it hits DAMN hard. The monster 12" sub runs at 1800rms, and have a nice big amp on it, that gives it hell. Loud enough that you can feel the bass hit in your chest when I turn it up
All my amps are power acoustic, speakers are all alpine, head unit is alpine, Cap is power acoustic and sub is alphasonik.

It will be up for sale shortly. I will be going up to a DNX9980 in a custom enclosure
That's awesome man! Sounds like it's an absolute beast! Wish I was able to hear it! Haha that's exactly what I love, I used to do a lot of PA setuPs back in England with funktion 1 rigs and with the dual 18 bass cabs they would literally control your breathing when the bass hit haha it was awesome! Sounds like you have a Badass setup there sir!

Update - Front passenger floor sound deadening/heat sheild layer. Next comes carpet pad (where it will fit). The entire floor pan, door skins, wheel wells, rear deck, trunk floor, etc. will be covered with this stuff.
Inner door covered with Blackhole Tile deadener (which you can't see, but you sure can hear it when you knock on the outside of the door) and outer door skin covered in sound deadener/heat sheild.
Mercedes' are already really dead from the factory, so they are much quieter than most cars. In fact, these cars in stock form are probably as quiet as most cars after 1 complete inner layer of Roadkill. But the Blackhole Tile will make a huge difference even on a quiet car like a Benz. The Tile pretty much makes the car as dead as it can be. Knocking on the outside of a typical car sounds like an empty tin can, a Mercedes sounds like a full tin can, and after the Tile and Roadkill this door sounds like knocking on a nerf ball.

I'm watching this one.
Nice equipment you have there.
It looks as though the kick panel already has a hole there that can accomodate a speaker. Is this correct as its a bit hard to tell from the pic.

There is a hole there already yes, but we will be mounting both the midrange and tweeter in the kick panel, so will be completely re-doing that panel. Will be trying to mount it as on-axis as possible to provide the best staging.

Thank's it's good to know that there is a hole there already.
I had mids and tweeters in the kick panel of my W210 but we had to cut metal.
I wasn't going touch my W211 but after seeing your thread you got me thinking.

Yeah there is already a hole there if you have the HK system. It has a 3-way system already, so wouldn't be hard at all to switch out for upgraded 3-way components!

Yes!! Thank you! Funktion one is absolutely incredible. The only better system I have heard is void, and I don't know if they even still exist anymore!

I did that with the last vehicle I had... Totally gutted the car and put sound deadening material everywhere... Since the car is already gutted, it was pretty easy to do whatever I wanted. I even had custom rear seats fabricated and used this as part of my sub enclosure... I was sponsored by a car audio shop in my area and they either gave me most of my stuff for free or at their cost. I even had custom Xtant amps built specifically for my vehicle... Went with MB Quart for my mids and tweets... Subs were custom built by the shop... Was a killer system... Until someone completely gutted my car and stole it all, that is... Haven't had the "audio bug" since...

I wanted much much higher SQ, and with the stock head unit that wasn't possible. I also wanted a more functional unit with better nav, good iPod interface (will be running all apple lossless files), bluetooth for phone etc.
The COMAND unit just isn't very good in my opinion.
