I need new brake rotors

Gotta buy new front brake rotors mine are worn down.
I gave the dealer my VIN and model and with my discount they
told me 125 each, sounds cheap as though they may be wrong.
THough I will order them for that price if they are wrong i wont take them.

Does this price seem right?
Is everyone getting rotors from the dealer or are there good deals
aftermarket?
Thanks

I just ordered a set of rear rotors from parts.com and rear brakes as well. Total was $230 +$36 shipping. Dealer wanted $887 for labor/parts for rear brakes/rotors.

WOW!! Are E55 OEM rotors that cheap, or is the dealer here a total rip off? When I called them about rotors for the E63 they said over $1,000 per rotor!!

For what it's worth I hear the E63 rotors are quite different than the E55's so I'm guessing that's part of the cost? Not sure though, just heard there were some major differences.

However if I were a betting man, I'd guess the braking/stoping distance of an E55 vs. E63 are very close, which begs the question, what benefit do you get from the E63 braking system and added cost?

I could be wrong on both points, just an educated guess.

from 70 MPH to 0 MPH, The E55 does 173 feet, the E63 is 170 feet. same person in both cars, same tires, and same day. So for the extra 'claimed' $3,600 for rotors all around, is it worth the 3 feet? I'd say no

Yup, that's the going rate for E63 rotors. The E63 uses a 2 piece floating rotor, much like a race car. I think it can be had for ~$900, but your dealer is in the right ballpark.

The E55 uses a conventional one piece cast rotor. About $100 bucks - little less mail order, little more dealer. Score 1 for the E55...

LOL!! No kidding. The E55 gets the edge on cheaper maintenance there. Who would have thought that?

Great point, 3 feet difference wow! Plus if you through some Hawk pads or EBC on your E55 with stock rotors I'm sure it would stop sooner than 170 feet as well, as the stock pads aren't very good.

Plus even if you have to replace your E55 rotor, they are very cheap! Under $100.00 for fronts each and around $70.00 for rears. Heck I might buy them now just to have them in stock (plus senors...)

$1K per rotor just is not worth it. Now if they were carbor brakes, maybe....but not for a measly 3 feet!

My $.02.

As everyone has said OEM are cheap compared to the E63 or even some aftermarket rotors. I did these over a year ago with Akebono pads and couldn't be happier with the way the brakes feel even on colder days.

Do you need two sensors or one for the rear?

1k for OEM rotors on a E63 -- that really sucks.... What are the upgrade options for E55's? only Evosport? About the same price as the OEM E63??? I am not willing to spend $2000 on front rotors. I rather buy lighter wheels. I'll just stick with my $100 rotors --

If the E63 rotors are 2pc, couldn't you just buy new rotors from Coleman or some other mfg? You should not have to buy a new rotor AND hat just because the rotor needs to be replaced?

I'm due for the same thing...total brake job...stealership said, "Oh...it'll be somewhere over $2k for everything."

What do I need? Rotors + pads + sensors....anything else? Definitely going the parts.com route...
