w211 e55 amg weight

How much does the E55 weigh? I haven't taken mine to weigh it, I want to know if any of you have, some say 4000 some 4200 and one guy said 4300!! Does anyone actually know? Plus it the pano roof part of the curb weight given by the factory because that thing weighs ALOT.

I'm not talking about the manufacturer's given weight I'm talking about someone actually weighing it themselves.

Your worst nightmare...
Pano should be just an additional 100Lbs if any. There are a few old threads around beating to death the difference in weight between pano and Non pano E55's.

Just for the .02 I love my pano!!

I know these are heavy saloon cars anyway but how much do the body panels weigh? Like the hood, fenders, bumpers etc. Here in Australia I have a friend who works on V8 Supercars (australian touring cars), he works with carbon fiber. I was just wondering how much weigh can be saved if the panels were carbon, I also mean dry not wet carbon. He tells me the process and labor is the expensive thing about it, not the material. Not that it's cheap but the labor is the real wallet molester. How much weight could you save say the roof, side fenders, skirts, trunk, hood and bumpers were in carbon fiber?

Not much, most panels are aluminum and right there with Carbon fiber weight wise. There was a thread here about a CF hood, turned out little to no weight savings.

well new mufflers will give at least 35 lbs, battery change could save 50 lbs, spare and trunk components could be whatever is in your trunk then 25 or so with panels and spare, bring half a tank to save about 90 lbs versus the 180 or so full, that right there is 200 lbs give or take a few. thats the easy stuff too.

Are you serious about the panels not saving, kind of makes me thing where the weight is. The interior is heavy but come on guys it's not that different to many other cars, the seats are but seriously I thought the body panels were heavy. The suspension is probably heavy although I don't know how much, I'm closing watching the coil over thread, don't know the weight savings but it's cheap-ish and more reliable. How much does the Airmatic weigh?

Go to your E55 and pull the passenger side front carpet/floorboard out.

all those pumps are heavy -- not too mention we have a huge engine and supercharger -- and our trannie is not a strong beast for no reason.

Most of the weight is between the suspension ( Airmatic is very complex and has many many more parts than a regular coil suspension ), engine/tranny assembly, and interior ( mostly the seats ).

The final conclusion was about 180 pounds, like mine too except lately it has started talking back to me a low speeds, annoying.

Edit: Here is the old thread on the weight of the Pano rood. Seems like it weighs 88-120 lbs depending on what/who you believe.
