Had a great private track rental at MIR in Maryland today. Weather has been crazy recently from 80-25 within a week. Luckily the rain held out and weather was perfect for the track.

I was in full video and photo mode most of the day but still managed to miss some great moments

Adam w his ESS s/c M5 was a mission today to break the world record for an e39 M5, he needed to break 11.79 to make that happen. New SouthBend clutch and it was game on



street wheels/tires off, Dinan wheels w Nitto 555r's on







cooling down after our 1.5 hour trip







He had a tough time getting use to the new clutch pickup point but finally started to get it right. Traction was NOT an issue, he actually never spun the entire day, probably had a mid to low 1.6x 60 ft in the car but never saw it.

He finally nailed a 1.73 60 ft and here was the result

then he nailed a 1.70 60 ft and this was the result, he only needed to drop .05 seconds for the record, dropping .03 in the 1st 60 ft would almost guarantee that happening!

he'll be back for more, i'm sure he'll end up being the quickest e39 M5 in the world this year. Meth is in the plans, heatsoak kills him up top with no inter/aftercooler setup

this car had the most violent launches......and the driver was a mad man, would NOT get out of it. Sliding sideways off the start and still hitting a 1.07 60 ft on one run

Beautiful Zr1 that set the world record bone stock before I even arrived with a 10.5x w only drag radials!!!! Over 134mph trap, unreal. Way to go GM.

 

and then this poor guy wrecked into the barrier for the starting tree during his burnout on the 1st run of the day for him. He was shaken up but not hurt, car seems ok too but the fiberglass front end is done for.

Blue Viper....get this, 1080whp on pump gas!!!!! he was babying it so bad but still trapping over 150mph. He finally launched it and blew his half shafts right off the car, might have moved 2 feet in total that run, unfortunately, no camera gear in hand

very very impressive, probably 3-4 mods away from a 9 second daily driver!

wasnt much to see, a few oily ball bearings hit the track, other than that the photos I posted of it in the pits are actually after the carnage.

Its always a pleasure to hang out with the Benz crowd! I am more amazed each time we go to the track rentals, They must not have any heat soak issues at all to hot lap as much as they do!

Wow.. That Viper was NUTS! Sounded at first like an import was staging next to him, suprised to see him make a solo run. It was bad-a$$ though.
