I've wanted to do coils but lately I've been interested in this house I plan on buying and after blowing some cash on Eurocharged's kit I don't think I'm gonna be spending much more money on the car till I get the house ordeal over with.
With that being said, I'm definitely paying attention to this thread for future reference.

"Benzoboi" were you the same owner of that killer wide bodied w210 a few years ago??
If so im so not surprised that you upgraded to this and it just confirms that im headed in the right direction(cos i'm in the market for a 55 as well)
Please please document the heck out of this for us guys....I've always theorized that converting these beast from airmatics would be the way to go long term..especially at the rate "extended warranties" are refusing to work on them at an alarming rate, Thats whats scared/kept me away for soooo long.
Good luck with it...hope someone stickys this!!!! and please keep us all posted.

I'll make this thread into a sticky later if there are enough members that want it to be.

I am alittle confused on the pics you attached. Do these only have remote resivoirs on the rear? Also looks like the top hats on the front are not installed. Can you take alittle better pics with all the parts ouf of the box? I only ask because they look remarkably similar to the BCR coil overs available for LX cars.

Just a small update I just got. Don't ask for more because I don't have any... I'll do what I can to have some better pics tomorrow.

Slowly yet surely!
The ideas of gettin this done has been in my head for WAY TOO LONG. I'm going to get it done somehow! Of course I will share my knowledge with the rest of my AMG brothers and sisters! Must give HUGE kudos to my shop though. They're the ones that are making it happen for me.

I'm expecting only one big one when the airmatic starts freakin out because the air struts aren't there but that should be an easy fix when we switch over to steel suspension with Star. I'm sure well run into a bunch of other lil electronic gremlins. Someone has to be the guinea pig right?

And if one shock (airmatic) breaks, we can replace all 4 with co's and spend a little more compared to MB @ what, $1,500/shock then 4-6 hours labor, on one stinking shock? rip off..... And plus, you'll be a saint for being the first with coil overs

I am kinda lost on the handling department. Will our 2 ton boats really handle pretty good with coils? Obviously never gonna be P cars I know but.....
Man does that pic look good!!!

I can't answer your question just yet, but I hope to be able to very soon! I'm not expecting P car handling either but I know it'll be A LOT better then our mushy crapmatic.

People need to understand that regardless of what we put in our cars,a BIG TURBOCHARGER or COILOVERS or BOTH,our cars will never handle like a P-Car or a 360 CS
The OP's purpose of going with CO's is not to make his car a track car but he is sick of
1)- The cushy ride
2)- The recurring problems with airmatics
3)- The cost and labor invloved in repairing airmatics
4)- The weight of Crapmatic
So he finally decided enough is enough and took the project on to IMPROVE the driveability (handling) and reliability of his car or shall i say,all mercedes models with crapmatic suspension..
Salute to Benzoboi for taking initiative on this awesome project...
Hope this helps...

A Nissan GT-R weighs almost 3900lbs and is one of the best handling cars EVAR! That doesn't mean the E will be able to handle a well as a purposely build AWD sports car, but it's handling should improve dramatically. It may also be helpful to perhaps upgrade the sway bars.
