- Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Why is My Key Fob Not Working?
Guide to diagnose trouble and recommended solutions
Need help with Key Fob...
I picked my E55 up from the MB Service yesterday. Everything seemed to work well until I got home and tried my key fob...
The keylessGO works just fine. No problems there. BUt after my service visit, the buttons no longer work on my key fob. I can't lock, unlock my doors, or open my trunk with the buttons on the key fob.
Anyone have any ideas? I have tried both (normally) working key fobs and neither of them will unlock/lock/open then turnk of my car.
Is it possible that the Service techs reset something that caused the key fob buttons to stop working? Anyone know how I can re-sync it?
First isolate your problem.. Check the fuse, then check if your key can still do IR... Point the key towards the door handle, press a button and see if it reacts.
If your fuse is blown, replace it. If not, and IR works, then it might be your antenna amplifier. (i have one for sale if you need it - my thread explains why I have a spare). Its real easy to replace..
Also, you didn't just put on some window tint did you?
They pulled down the headliner when I brought it in for service to look at my Pano roof. IS the antenna Amplifier somewhere in the roof?
I have checked the fuses in the trunk and they are all fine... one thing strange though, I pulled all of them one by one replacing them as I went. When I finished checking, I clicked the close truck button and then my hazzard lights went on but blinked slower then normal.... when I opened the drivers side door, they stopped flashing.
I think that my car needs an exorcist.

The keyless go antenna's are at verious points in the car not in the roof liner.

Also - does your alarm siren work? (try to set it off). I ask because it is on the same power circuit as your antenna amplifier. If the alarm siren doesn't work, then it's a power issue related to the circuit feeding the siren and the ant/amp. But if the siren works, then the problem is narrowed to the ant/amp unit.
The fact that your Infra Red works means your locking system is not the problem, and the fact that your keyless go works means that its not a security system issue, nor is it an issue with your key's RF capabilities.
If you can take it back to the dealer to have them fix it - that would be your best bet.. Otherwise you can check out that antenna amplifier.
I had to do a lot of research on this from the MB WIS docs and all the various forums to fix my problem back then.. Hopefully this helps you out.
Hold unlock; the windows roll down and the sunroof opens. Hold lock; everything closes.
I also noticed that when they replaced my headlight assembly due to the Headlight Cornering being broken that now my headlights are 2 different colors. One is yellowish, and the other is blueish. That doesn't seem correct.

Do you have BiXenon headlamps? the color difference is most likely due to the stock buld being 4300K and you had 6000K or higher HID bulds in before.
I have the E55 listed in the classified section. I just found out yesterday that I'm going to be a dad so priorities have shifted... I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to sell, but don't know how well a baby seat will fit in the back of an E55. :-) One things for sure, if I keep it, my kid is going to get to day-care in style.

I just got mine and the first thing I did was load up my 5 year old in a booster seat and my 6 month old in a rear facing car seat and went to the carwash...no problems except less head room in the back to put the baby in the seat than my LR3. I like the idea of a seriously solid car surrounding my kids! My wife won't let me stomp on it with the kids inside though....afraid the G's will affect the baby's brain.....yeah....say no more....
