Current thinking on fixing rock chips on the hood?
The weather was finally nice enough to hand wash the car yesterday, and in so doing, I discovered a nasty stone chip in the hood that needs attention.
I used to use the Auto Sharp Pen with my BMW cars - the color was always good, and the application was always easy.
Just curious...whats the thought here on fixing a stone chip - any better/other solutions before I head the old route?
Thanks.

The STAR reviewed this system.
It's not as good as a pro body shop but it was first in their tests over the OEM brushes and pens.

If you get it report back and let us know. I have to touch up my G500 after the winter!

Perhaps you can post in the Appearance and Detailing Forum?

For not much more than the cost of a clear bra (don't ever think you can take it off) just have it re-sprayed by a by a top quality paint shop. If you need to strip the existing paint use high pressure baking soda. There is a operation here in the West Palm Beach area that will strip an assembled automobile to bare metal using high pressure, non abrasive baking soda for about $1,000.00.

I think I'm going to try the Dr. Colorchip.Typically I'll just do a touch up with a very tiny paint brush. The Dr. has two more steps and it seems as though it blends it more?

Clear bra can be taken off with out any issues unless until it was placed right after the car was repainted or the guy has used the Gorilla Glue to hold it down

As long as the panel doesn't have lots of rock chips and you want to avoid getting more, the clear bra can & should be installed..
Keith, you are welcome to look at any of my cars to see how it looks installed..

Yeah the extra step of blending does help but I found I had to do some chips twice and not rub the spot with the blending cloth too hard to get it looking smooth.

If anyone is looking for clear-bra, My buddy Shane has been doing this forever. For most cars he can pre-cut and ship it to you. He also does headlight and taillight blackout kits. Just tell him Randall sent you. http://www.shanestintandclearbra.com/
Over the years the quality and UV resistance has gotten better and better and better. And yes-you can use on a used car, and yes you can remove at any time in the future. And it no longer turns yellowy over time.
