- Mercedes Benz E Class Why is My Engine Knocking?
Step by step instructions for do-it-yourself repairs
Do you guys not find the E55 engine noisy?
I'll tell you something though...I did a 50-120mph pull on the highway today and it really makes you fell like your strapped on to a rocket...a noisy one at that. LOL.
I guess the engine in the corvette Z06 is a race motor too...and the one in the shelby GT 500, or the one in the Caddy CTSV...etc.
What race series does the M113K participate in?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
And / or have your motor mounts checked first, if bad they can make your car sound and feel rough.
Good luck and report back
My mounts are new.
It's lasted this long with me without issues so I don't think there is a problem...it's just really noisy.

LOL but this is not how it is supposed to sound like. The sound is coming from the valves due to a broken valve lifter.
Now that motor has some problems. As for GT-ER. I Know I bring some bad news. at Times , You were very clever on your repairs to your Crank. I've been trying to put together a Pin Kit That can let you install an a extra Drive pin for the aftermarket over driven Harmonic balancers, , But the nose of the crank doesn't extend very far pass the seal. This makes it hard to drill & get in straight.
As you already know. My biggest concern is metal Particles getting back into the motor. getting suspend in the oil , embedded in the bearings & wearing off the Iron coating on the piston skirts. My guess is that you are ready for a 8 pack of new pistons. and other assorted parts! You have proven in the pass you will fix things most people give up on. March On BRO

Also, wouldn't the oil filter pick up whatever metals the oil has floating in it?
they growl and whine because they are forced to drive on city streets all day - they are angry not being in a proper race car where they belong. These AMG motors are angry motors. But it is this anger that makes these motors so special.
In all seriousness these are noisy motors, actually race motors that have been de-tuned for the street.
dont be hating .. you know you love us 55ks thats why you are posting here.
Radio does solve the problem, but I think main problem is in the pulleys and roller tension.
