I just purchased a mint condition 2005 E55 I love this car im glad all the noises I hear are normal.

 

Just means that its working!

 

When I bought my 2005 I said the same thing. My 1998 Crown Victoria sounds dead quiet like it came off the assembly line with 200,000k on her. I buy this car and was like holy crap the engine sounds like sheet!!! But over time you distinguish all the sounds and its all normal. Car runs perfect and its just part of the "game" with these.Never liked he oil pump whine though. Hey how about the sounds when you open the door in the morning in a closed garage!!! That's special too!

 

My S55 is fairly noisy as well but I accept that for the stellar performance it delivers.

my e63 is loud as hell, i was weary of it when i first got it lol

 

Iirc Jeremy Clarkson even made mention of how noisy this engine is, or perhaps that was a comment he made about the E60 M5.
