I can't decide on which car I want to puchase, both are fully loaded. I love to go fast and also like a great handling car. I'm concerned with maintenance, reliability and resale value.. What do you guys think?

e55 handles better, cheaper to maintain, prob more reliable, and both have dismal resale, but the e55 prob better, it is a year older, more fully depreciated, and lower maintenance costs help it hold value. For better resale, buy Japan. The S fits big people better, like a 6 foot 6 driver with a 6 foot 6 guy behind him. Not so much the E.

What he said... Everything you mentioned it seems as though the E is a better fit.. The E handles better, probably more reliable and wont depreciate too much more..

I plan on doing all the bolt on mods and want something rare, fast and unigue. I'm a realtor and need a big car for taking client out so I'm leaning on the S600..

my advice, spend a little more and get a CPO'd car if you can find one. The first ABC failure out of warranty and you'll be even in cost. This isn't a car to skimp on purchase price. And make sure you are putting away plenty of money for maintenance, especially the S. Parts are fairly crazy on my s65 and I'll bet some are better on the S600 but I'd price out things like ignition coil packs, ABC hydraulic pumps (airmatic ain't cheap either) and shocks, and front windshields(I never priced one of these, but I've heard they have an infrared coating on them that makes them hella expensive on the S), you may be surprised. If you are under 5' 10", the E will do fine with people in the back. I could give you a list of Sh*t that went wrong on my S65 (with 9k miles on it, death by sitting) and you would vomit. Thank you, CPO!

Haters crazy
ssonss1 can tell you his honest and true feedback on the s600 as he has owned one. Repairs are $$$$$$ on those cars, and fun factor is no where near of a e55k...

Whoa, okay so no S65 but if you honestly are taking clients out quite often, go S600.

I get claustrophobic in the back of mine and have to (just about) press the steering wheel against my ribs and knees to dash to make a 6 foot buddy of mine comfortable in the back seat.

E55 is lots more fun, S600 more comfy for others but no slouch with some mods. Gotta choose bro.

I had the same problem but I choose the e55. The 600 motors just scared me to much. In hindsight I am very glad I went with my e55. The interior looks more modern to me and the car is extremely fun. Good luck on your choice

The s600 is obviously a nice fast limo but it simply doesn't have the aural presence of the similarly rapid amg55. The real question is for you, are you an amg type or not? If you aren't go for the s600. If you are, get the e55 amg, otherwise you'll be miserable each time one thunders by...
Brgds

P.S. In the e55, elderly clients might prefer the distant rumble of a 'light' foot...!

e55 way more fun. s600 handles like a boat. as do all benz but the e55 is great power and great fun. as for taking your clients out i would get a used lexus or something relatively nice.... but not to nice... your clients will think your ripping them off because of the car you drive. just my 2cs

I've had both...look at my sig. Don't even consider the 600 unless it has a warranty. Last year I spent $13K for repairs in a 9 month period...abc pump, abc line, rear shock, radiator, fan, blower motor, blower motor regulator, coil pack, fuel control module, rear a/c blower motor, trunk closing motor, etc. Before the warranty expired my car would be in the shop every 3-4 months for something. One abc failure and you're looking at $2000 minimum to fix.

If both cars are equal...ie...price, warranty, miles, condition, I would pick up the 600 sport. Roomy, fast, doesn't handle that bad (the only good thing about the abc) and easy to mod but if it's out of warranty don't walk but run away from it! Just my $.02 worth. John

E55 is great fun but smaller. I love the S600, but no way would I own one without a warranty.

I can get you into a great warranty at a reasonable price on the E55....the S600 is much harder to get someone to cover, and it's a lot more money.

After owning an S600 for about 3 years... I'd take the E55 AMG.
