raced 996 TT

My friend has a stock one -- a very strong stock one... dyno dynamics 417whp. Later, I will dyno mine on the same dyno.

We raced and it was basically too close to call -- 60mph to 4th gear
and 40ish to 4th gear.... Stopped shortly after 4th was engaged.

MY gears are longer and was able to pull at those moments -- but he would inch back slowly-- basically neck and neck the whole time...

He was impressed by my +4200lb beast 'pano'. His car is like 800-1000lbs lighter. He said my car pulls hard in 4th.

My guess is my car is around 600 crank HP -- its pretty strong for the little mods -- racing my friend's E55 with more mods , 180 - LTs - 82mm TB - no cats... he can barely pull on me.

Anyways - who really cares about the numbers -- too many variables as we all know -- but a good race.

either your car is not healthy or his is not stock!

a stock 996 TT will get eaten alive in 3rd / 4rth gear on a moded 55k

his porshe must be chipped from a previous owner -- because 417whp and he is right next to me and I am like a strong stage 2 or something? My friends stage 3 cant even get 1/2 car length on me -

what do you think? that TT 996 must be around 500 crank HP?

a stock 996TT is 420hp crank if i recall, but they do gain a lot from tune and exhaust mods. Based on his dynos he is in the 500 range crank give or take

but as you know dynos vary, so would have to dyno at the same place he did toget an idea, but even then depends on the weather in which he did it also

Too many variables involved when racing on the street. Go to the track to find out if you have a strong running car.

The 996TT wasn't stock. Stock is 415 at the crank. Could have been an X50 (mine is), but still only 444 at the crank.

Never raced ours, but all the tests show the quarter -- stock to stock -- would be a driver's race. He's not stock.

My friend was trapping 116-117 in his bone stock 996tt

You can make any dyno read high, ask him to show you shootout mode numbers next time he uses that dyno.

I owned a stock 996TT- then modded it heavily including turbos... stock vs. stock its a driver's race IMHO. (I owned a stock new E55 then modded it too)

Mod the 996TT and its lights out... especially if you go into the higher stages.

Heiss damn those curb weights for the 996 seem low I thought it was closer to 3300 lbs? I know my 997TT is around 3600 lbs.

To the OP, sweet race!!!

yeah - i conclude my friend's porshe is slightly modded -- i believe his dyno numbers -- that car pulls harder than my boss's 997 x50. and my car is no slouch - i can dust an M6 and stay right on a stage 3 E55.

Next month - He will have his new shop running -- and we will probably do some dyno pulls.
