I have heard that they did.Does anyone know the serial number to the factory LSD diff they used?

I know it was part of the 099 performance package. Maybe that can help a bit as you search around for it.

Not sure of the serial.

P030 package had them. My CLS55 has the factory Salisbury LSD that was part of the Performance Package, along with wheels, suspension, Steering wheel, and top speed removal.

In the U.S., the 030 and P30 packages were available on the E-Class starting model year 2007, which means they started with the E63. For the CLS, the performance package was offered in 2006.

However, an LSD option (along with 030 package) was indeed available for 2004 to 2006 E55s but in Europe only and was NEVER offered here in the U.S. Although I do remember reading that some people were able to special order the LSD from Europe and somehow ship it to the U.S. At the time, the AMG LSD was only 30% locking while the ones from 2007 and later are 40%. It is probably much easier to get it now than it was back then

Problem is part number is a sticker on the top of the diff, so can't get it for you till I pull the diff out to install my 3.06 Ring and Pinion. Let you know though...

Yes mines an 2005 and it has LSD, it was part of the 090 performance pack part numbers are as follows for performance pack products on the w211 03 onwards ; -

VMAX- top speed raised to 300kph = VMAXBR211
Manual Shift program - Modified transmission management unit with hold function = HWA 211 260 XXXX
Differential Lock (LSD) - A211 350 58 62

Searched EPC high and low for that part number and found nothing. Went through every AMG Sub assembly for differential and nada..Might not be something you can buy on it's own. Even if you could find it scratch, would probably be 2-3 times the price of a Quaife or Wavetrac. The LX guys use either of those to great effect, and is the route I would go if I didn't already have an LCD.

Yeah your right as I too have looked everywhere for it and its probably going to be around 2500 plus shipping from Europe.

I found an lsd for 855 new online and think thats my best bet.

I am in the UK, so may have been been a Europe only option, the guy i bought my car off said he had ordered the car, then found out about the LSD which he ordered, it delayed the delivery of his car by 4 weeks because of it as it had to be sent to a different AMG plant to have it fitted, then returned back to mainline production to finish the car off. I have the invoice for the LSD at home so can double check what part number was on the invoice.

Make sure you get someone to tune your TCU for the 3.06 gearing. I have not seen or heard anyone getting that diff ratio to work on the E or CLS.

Many have said yes we can do it blah blah , but in the end they cannot get the software right... contact dyno re his 3.06 experience.
