Talking Just drove the new E55 AMG!!! WoW!!!!!!

Well, it is one heck of a fast car!!! I had been following this forum for a while and just wondered what the acceleration would have felt like. Well now, I know!! It is damn fast! and makes me think that I would rather live with a E500 as a daily commuter. The E55 just pulvarizes everything in its path. It just begs you to push the pedal down and live in the glory that is 476HP and 515 or so torgue!

The one I drove is fully kitted out except for Distronic and the pano roof which are not to important over here. It has the COMAND system with DVD video player and TV plus it has the brand spanking new Active Cornering Bi-xenon headlights! Very cool! All other options possible for the E55 are also included. I'll post picks tomorrow once its all nice and waxed.

Wow, what a car, what a car!!!

Wow, that's nice, but you could get the E55 for daily driver and just watch your foot.......................go down every time you step on that gas

Only thing is everyone looked at me funny when I was test driving the E55 AMG because I young. Why do they think people have to be close to dying to have a car like the e55?

Same crap happens to me also, I will be 30 in July, and I never walk into my dealerships down here, I buy cars by the phone.

Target age range for E55 buyers is 40-50 years old.
That's younger than for the general E and S Class audience...
but still older than for all the BMW demographics except the 7 series.

It's sad to hear that some dealerships act that way and are biased by age. Years ago, my dad didn't get the time of day from a BMW dealership when he went to buy his first sportscar because he was very casually dressed when he went into the dealership. Smartly, his local Mercedes dealership didn't have the same bias. Since then, my parents have owned a half dozen different Mercedes vehicles over the years. His expereince had an effect on me too as I have never been to a BMW dealership and am looking to get another Mercedes when my lease is up this January.

For what it is worth, the first MB dealership I went to in order to place na order for an E55, would not give me the time of day and treated me as if I was an idiot. I went to others and chose the one who did treat me decently. Sadly this place is far from where I live. the first place was walking distance.

I almost got turned off of MB after my early experience.

Loeber, no surpris there. Just about everytime I have been there it was always a bad experience. Orland Park? You really went south. Did you try Knauz or Mark Motors? I have had good experiences at both of these dealers. Anyway you did the right thing, Loeber's customer service is horrible.

I was thinking of just giving up when I got an E-mail from someone at Orland Park MB --- in response to an E-mail car retail service I signed into. He was the best of the salesmen I dealt with and the most knowledgeable too.

Any suggestions as to where I should take the car for maintenance and repairs?

I have only heard good things about Knauz. I know plenty of BMW guys who have their car serviced there, and a few MB guys. All have talked positevely about their experience there, I would give them a try.

Pbglas: I went into a local MB dealer 18 months ago to place a deposit on an SL55 and was refused! No thank you, they would not let me even place a deposit (well in advance) because I had not previously purchased a car at that dealer. I'm in my mid-40's (not a kid) and could easily buy a new SL55 yearly (not scraping for cash). Those guys are the ultimate in bad PR. Not unique, though, among MB dealers.

Thanks AMG55. Perhaps we should have a thread on MB dealers and present it to MB.

I have never had a Benz yet. I was going to purchase W210 E55 from Knauz or Mark Motors last year, but decided to wait for the new E55 or M5. The sales people at Knauz and Mark Motors both treated me with respect and were willing to work with me to make a sale. The Loeber guys basically did not give me the time of day, would not budge an inch.

I am leaning towards the new E55 probably sometime in 2004. I will go with either Knauz or Mark Motors. I have only heard good things about Knauz from MB and Bmw guys.
