Exhaust quandary.... help please
Ok to try to condense a very long story...........
I want to replace from the secondary cats back on my W211 E55 AMG with something louder than I have. I do not want any cutting of my current system. I spoke to Sebring (who make all the AMG exhausts) and asked them if they could make me a system for my car but to use SL55 rear boxes (with moded tips so they fit correctly) or alternatively the E55 rear boxes but unbaffled. It was a no can do as they are not allowed to sell any AMG exhausts to the public! So that was the end of that avenue.
After much searching and messing about I thought I had found the answer when I checked out Supersprint, it was the perfect system set up................. until I listened to the video they have of a full system on a CLS55. Now I realise the video recording equipment was not that good and the the car is running on a dyno but I just cant help feeling that it is just too quiet. Then I thought what about the supersprint ''pipes'' with Eisenmann ''race'' mufflers............... I dont know if it will fit together or not? Perhaps it will..... maybe with some slight modding? Perhaps some of you guys will know if that would work or not? Or perhaps you have a better idea?
I look forward to your suggestions and feelings on this matter.
Many thanks in advance.

Find a set of C63 mufflers, delete your resonators, and it will sound MINT. Eisenmann makes the c63 exhaust.
Stock cls55 exhaust sounds 10x nicer than the e55 exhaust. Remove the 2nd cats, and resonators and it will GROWL.

Hi and thanks for the advice. Do you have any experience of an E55K with C63 mufflers? Is it something you have done or know anyone that has done it? Does it fit? etc etc?

That 5mm difference is nothing. Any good exhaust shop could swell the C63 exhaust pipe to fit the E55 sizing and make it look OEM.
What are you after, I deeper louder grunt with no drone or raspiness?

I want a deep burble on idle and fairly loud on full throttle. I think I am going to go for a Supersprint and Eisenmann ''hybrid''. no idea what it will sound like, guess we will have to wait and see.

Please could you tell me what it says (if anything) on those c63 mufflers? Anything to indicate they are made by Eisenmann?

There is nothing like 'made by Eisenmann' or something like that.
Just the MB-Partnumber.
I love the C63-Sound :-(
Another option is the Tracer-Exhaust:

It will fit the e55, the difference is nothing, and good exhaust shop can bolt them up. More importantly, they will sound amazing...

bringing this one back up from the dead
hey tbal, FYI C63 exhaust is made by Sebring not Eisenmann, see image, middle resonator is also Sebring. thought id correct this as i was cleaning my boxes prior to having them installed in a few weeks time
