Well, rock, that's not what you want to hear, but it's what you have to live with. Thanks for the info.

Kompressor C230
Exclamation

Hi guys Im new here and have been searching thru all the relevant threads but have had no luck, even took to contacting Glyn Michael Ruk as i am so desperate for answers.

im trying to install and program mechatronic plate for 7speed auto box on C230.
VIN - WDB2037522A878869
Part No. A000270260

I have contacted the manufacturer of my diagnostic machine, autel maxisys, but they cannot assist. the Merc agents in South Africa are full of nonsense so had no luck with them.

if anyone can tell me what i need to do it would be much appreciated

HA! That's what I do for a living, and I wouldn't think of tearing into a transmission.

Hi guys, i did this rebuild myself and i have encountered a problem after mounting everything back.

i have 2 leaks that seems to come from the top of the bell housing and through the hole where you can see the torque converter. The oil that is coming out seems to not be clear red but more brown like the old trans oil. Anyone encountered this?

If you put brand new trans fluid in it should be bright red. If it is brown it is either motor oil....or the trans is smoked from incorrect rebuild and its over heated already...dont know. I would loosen the drain plug to see the color of the fluid then go from there. hopefully it is red.

if i look inside the "plug" i see bright red drops between converter and trans. but if i move to where the bellhousing meets the engine there is a wet spot that contains brown trans oil? im very confused.. i will take pics to be more specific

2005 ML350 - Special Ed.
I have a 05 ML350 with the same trans. (120k)

Recently it started to make a gear whine sound. first i was think(hoping) it was the center support bearing, but now I think it is the trans.

Mine is/was leaking fluid which i figured was oil and a main seal issue. It only did it when it was cold outside. never in the summer.

So now I am thinking the trans is my issue.

Going to drain the fluid to see how it looks.

going to add I noticed my parking pawl is not locking in park. Just noticed that today with it on stands.

Any idea what would cause the whining noise?? Planetary??

Updating this old thread., wow, time flies. Anyhow, I had to rebuild the motor earlier in the year and as the trans was out I opened her up for an inspection. 16k miles and everything looked great. A few of the clutch frictions had very minor wear which I replaced along with new seals, o-rings, conductor plate, etc. Drained the TC and put it back together, no issues. Shell 134 fluid.

Pearl awesome thread. By any chance do you still have the list of part numbers for the rebuild? What did everything cost? Im trying to get a idea on rebuild versus reman. Where did you also source the Torque Converter? Thanks
