Looking to grab an 05-06 E55, I know about the Airmatic issues but really haven't seen any other major issues scouring the pages of this site. Honestly, i will not get an aftermarket warranty...I am very hands on (lift and air tools in the garage) and can fix anything. I have already got AE scanning software for wifey's GL550 in my sig and it reads the computer perfect. Is their any major problems besides the Airmatic? meaning more towards Engine/Trans failures? (assuming kept stock and not beat to hell!). I plan on driving the car maybe 5K/year in the summer down to my shore house (100 miles each way all highway) then it will live it's life in the garage on a lift. Any input would be greatly appreciated, I just love the Benz's. Thanks

The Gas Tank Leak that happens on all W211s from 03-07 is a problem that comes to mind.

Yes...it's sick and full weight w/ air Z06's hate me...runs on E85

Crank position sensor and maybe the voltage regulator on the back side of the alternator.

Don't forget the biggee. That friggin intercooler pump. Notoriously bad. They fixed them in later models but no real way to know. Get that pump changed ASAP!

Even with a brand new stocker if you want.

Wow....what is an Intercooler pump?? I only know intercoolers as simple large radiators that do nothing but take air in one side...cool it and spit it back out! Thanks again for the info....will look into it.

These cars run a air to water intercooler, when the pump that circulates the water goes out your intake temperatures skyrocket.

Wow...I had no idea they ran a water-cooled intercooler, that's a big dollar option on building a turbo car, thats really impressive. These cars would probably love a little methanol spray under full boost! So that pump is very important as high IAT's can cause knock and really hurt under boost, thanks for the info. ( i realize they are supercharged).
