Foglight Problem with E63 Conversion HELP!!

Hey guys,

My car is currently at the body shop and they are done with the conversion except for the fog lights..

I ordered these fog lights:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...8Code%20772%29

But my shop says I am missing a cover for the rear of the foglight which would causes water to get into it and I am also need a new wire for the two fog lights?

Anyone have any ideas? I really want to get my car back

Pm Mikey33 he bought his from pelican.

Plug should be the same, only thing that changes is the bulb size.

So you got burned just like I did. Fortunatly it is not holding my car for delivery.

You saw my post here https://mbworld.org/forums/4788132-post27.html

It has the answers you seek. With pictures. Ask your installer to check them out to see if this solves the problem.

You need new fog lights. In that thread I give 2 different links for the correct part number.

You could take delivery of the car and install them yourself easily.

Yup you were right..they are not the same E63 fogs. I had posted in that thread mentioning that I purchased the same fogs and it was confirmed today by my body shop that although it does bolt up, the wiring/bulb is NOT CORRECT.

I'm leaning towards installing some HID fog lights to resolve the problem however, so I don't have to deal with returning these fogs

You know if the way it fits behind the plastic trim looks good, then deciding to move to HID eliminates the wiring issue. Also, the savings between the two versions will pay for the HID conversion 4 times over.

Jon, thanks for your info. It's been quite helpful in both threads. When you say behind the plastic trim do you mean the front mesh grille? I'm looking at pictures of the E63 fogs now to make sure that when I do get to the body shop, that it will look right visually.

You know what. I will mount the ones I have and take a picture. Look for it around 7pm as an edit to this post.

Here we go. Hope this helps everyone.
  • Picture 1 Original OEM, with crack.
  • Picture 2 The now infamous $60 bulb showing my finger in the big gap created between the bulb and the trim.
  • Picture 3 New bulb without "the finger"
  • Picture 4 Side shot of OEM
  • Picture 5 Side shot of new bulb. Mind the gap.

I went ahead and just ordered Depo fogs on ebay for $150...didn't want to spend the extra 100-150 for the Hellas

Anyways, I'm trying to order an HID kit for the fogs that will be coming in. I've searched and have read that its either an H7 or H11 kit? Can anyone confirm for me? Also, is it 35w or 55w? Again thats HID fogs for my E63 conversion.

Thanks!

Well, I knew there were some part lists in the forum for the E63 bumper conversion and they have the correct part numbers.

209-820-07-56 Fog Lamp Left
209-820-08-56 Fog Lamp Right

I also noted a lot of posts from people showing their conversion pics, and a lot of them had the wrong fogs. If you bought 2 of a single part number, you have the wrong fogs.

They are on ebay and at pelicanparts

www.oediscountparts.com is $151 each, which is the cheapest I have found, except the one left fog available on ebay for $80.
