Widebody E63/E55
and
Although I still think that the widebody W211 in those links is really bad looking but hey, you didn't make it so you have no reason to be ashamed. The widebody one I posted in the OP is GORGEOUS. That's what people are misunderstanding. I said it looks great but the performance drawbacks outweigh the good things. Plus the E Class is a "classy" car so it does take away from that appeal and make it more "racy and sporty". So what I'm saying is as a car, it's AMAZING looking, as a Mercedes E Class, a little over the top. The one in your links though is HIDEOUS, no offense
It really does complete the W211 look. I think this is what the E55 should have looked like to rival the M5, I still can't get around the performance consequences though. Let's see how the paint goes to see if it lost the classy look. Thank God there's no sills or vents. As a car it's just
but as an E Class.....I just don't know. Although I am speculating on only pics, let's see how it looks when painted. All in all a STUNNING looking thing
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
its not like these cars are trapping at 180mph where miniscule drag coefficient differences come into play.
i think having a black series looking AMG well outweighs the .000001 sec diff i might loss in the 1/4 lol
or i could just lose 100lbs on the car and take of 1/10th sec in the 1/4

in the end these cars are way more about style/luxury than alll out performance anyways... they are a stylish luxurious 4 door sedan that is quick for a 4 door, but not a dragster where u should worry about not putting a subwoofer in the trunk cuz it will add 40lbs and take .04 sec off the 1/4

great build saw this last year when they first started the build, can not wait to see the finished end product
I like where it's going though...

so I too would sacrifice performance for that look. Besides, adding power and dropping a couple of hundred pounds off the weight would counter the effect. Maybe they can measure the drag coefficient once they finish the project, it's not a hard thing to do and it could give insight to what's what. Plus Mercedes used a widebody on the SL65 Black so I'd think that if it was that bad they wouldn't have done it.
Maybe it's the angle or lighting, but the rear wheel opening looks substantially smaller than the front. Aesthetically it seems crowded and awkward....
I'll reserve final judgement for when it's in final paint with all trim reinstalled.

we would just like to see how it looks 360 degrees. Thanks
Ignore the RS4 build (it's awesome but not my topic), go down the page and have a look at that widebody E55 build. When I saw it I was all WTF
While it looks awesome from the back I think it makes the car a bit vulgar, almost ricey. I mean it is a four door sedan, at the end of the day it has a certain class to it. The widebody look suits the CLK because it's a coupe but what do you guys think? Plus doesn't it increase drag, I mean the W211 is known for having a fairly good coefficient of drag. The Rollin’ Art Brand is set to incorporate a lifestyle around the concepts and ideas emerging from projects and retail line.
