The rear looks all wrong to me. It seems so obvious that the flare was built that way because they were scared to allow the flare to encroach into the rear door areas and deal with all the extra work. They basically built the largest flare that would fit in the rear quarter panel even though the proportions make it look way too small.
I'm not a particularly accomplished metalworker but the early photos of the rear fenders show that whoever has been doing this work is hiding their lack of skill with buckets and buckets of body filler. The front flare shows inconsistencies as well, and the overly-large radius transitioning from the flare to the orginal fender gives it a really cheap "this is all bondo" look.
IMHO.... the front wheel/tire combo is simply too "big" looking. If that were scaled-down (and the front flare re-worked) the rear would probably not be so objectionable.

When it's painted and assembled with hopefully some nicer wheels, it's going to be WAY cooler visually than MOST W211s. If he does little accents, carbon fiber etc... this car is going to look so menacing.
Just wait until I do a wide body on the rear of my CL and am able to run 315s

Really...??
Does this type of metalwork impress you....or anyone?
It looks like someone took a bunch of balled-up tin foil and made a flare out of it..... there is no reason why such a simple curved shape would require all of that random hammering. I do better hammer & dolly work than that and I'm just a beginner.
Interestingly, the rocker extension piece looks pretty well-executed. I can't believe it was the same fabricator....and it probably wasn't.

I would hold a Mercedes shop to a higher standard than one working on a Chevelle...
Anyway, if the flares are going to be fiberglass I hate it even more. Fiberglass NEVER looks the same as steel when it's painted, and that is to say that it is always wavy and never shows the same "depth" in the paint as steel does.
.....and I couldn't disagree more about your comment that paint will make all the difference. If the bodywork looks bad NOW, a deep coat of glossy paint isn't going to hide it. It's going to accentuate every poorly executed thing on that car. There's a reason why guys spend hundreds of hours blocking out the primer on a car before the color goes on. Glossy paint is merciless and will show EVERY flaw in the prep work or fabrication steps.
Maybe the final product will prove me wrong, but at this point I seriously doubt it.

I beg to differ. I've seen many cars with fiberglass/carbon bodywork that looks just as good as metal.

2005 E55 AMG
As have I. I do my own body work on my cars ( within reason since I don't exactly have a lot of time for it since I have another job ) so I know something about this and I have seen fiberglass work that simply looks amazing.

If done right, fiberglass can look perfect and blend like the rest of a car. Bodywork is an art, and everyone isn't an artist. I love the direction of the rear arches on this project. Hopefully it comes to complete fruition so we can judge to final product and not just the R&D progress. The vision is there and it's a good one

God that's disappointing, I thought it would look better. It flows well at the front but the back, it's just not fluid and sexy. ...and for the millionth time what is up with putting roof spoilers on these cars ??! Roof spoilers ruin W211s, boot lip spoilers are a must but those stupid ugly roof spoiler FFS. Whatever to each his own but they're just hideous.

Car looks really good except for one little issue. How he front fender merges it self onto the front bumper. I think it needs work there, just not sure what it needs but it it looks too empty there
