First thing they teach you in boxing is keep your gloves up and don't drop your guard.

It sure is the first thing they teach you. What they don't teach you is character and honor. Most boxers have it, Mayweather obviously has none. That whole exchange with 80 year old Merchant was a clear reflection of this. That's not a man, that's trash.

I couldn't believe what I saw. There is no question that Mayweather won fair and square...but for me, Ortiz won as the true sportsman. I have no interest in seeing pigs like mayweather win.

Agreed. I honestly think the fight was set up. Aside from that the show of class act towards tthe end of the fight to the announcer with the name calling shows who the real mayweather is. He came out of the bag. Thank God I didnt pay for this crappy A$$ fight.

You guys are crazy....

Dude blatantly head butted Floyd. Straight jumped into him.

And when the bell rang.. and Ortiz was all trying to hug Floyd.. you see Floyd push him off and put his gloves up... ready to go.. and he went. Its not Floyds fault.. Ortiz got caught slippin. Plain and simple.

Best fight ive seen in a while.

Boxing is done. It has to evolve to what you saw last night to even come close to MMA. People are talking, publicity stunt well done.

I really don't see why people are so butt hurt by this. First things first this is a fight not a dance off. Second Ortiz decided to play dirty. Once he realized that he pissed off Floyd he wanted to hug it out. Then he did not put his hands up so he got knocked out. If you have watched any of Mayweathers fights him and Merchant have never see eye to eye plus Floyd can care less about public opinion of him. That is why he is a boxer

Both camps keep making excuse and can't come to terms. I think they both feel they could lose and they don't want that risk. Plus the more they drag it out the more money they will make when they fight.

They were supposed to then mayfeather wanted to subject pacquiao to olympic type drug tests. If that fight ever happens I will bet heavily on the Pacman.

Apparently Mayfeather made at least $40 million from this fight..

Watched on YouTube, looked pretty cheap to me, just backed away from each other, ref not even looking/paying attention/ready for the fight to continue and he swung at Ortiz, it was like the fight hadn't even started again yet. Could care less about boxing or MMA though for that matter. He is laughing on the way to the bank so it don't matter either way how people feel about the outcome because it says KO in the books.

Was cheap, but legal, ortiz head but was illegal, ortiz deserved it in my oppinion.

Mayweather just capitalized better on his cheap shot.

"You do dirt you get dirt" something I learned very early in life.

1 cheep shot calls for another, Floyd didn't know he was going to knock him out

Ortiz was trying to lose, first with the headbutt and then the WWE antics (with help from low-class Floyd and the "distracted" ref). He had more money to gain by losing. I'm sure he's rolling in alot more than the 2.5 million he got for losing. Aside from Mexico, no one wants to see Ortiz deliver Mayweather his first loss anyway. This was just a promo for the impending Mayweather vs Pacman fight.

I rarely watch boxing I only watched it because the free UFC fights ended before it. I would place a large amount of blame on the REF he should have sent them to their corners and payed attention to what was going on. From the fighters both being trashy dirty fighters the ref being terrible and the announcer bashing the fighter it's no wonder boxing is a dieing sport. I would bet after losing oscar after mayweather/manny fight is done it will be a large blow to boxing. I don't know much about how it's ran but with all the belts and guys making 40 mil a fight there doesn't seem to be leadership responsibility or rules everything seems like a scattered free-for-all and with that type of money comes corruption. It's no wonder the fighters do things like that. If these things happened in the UFC dana would send them packing.

the ref turned away for a second but he clearly told the two men to fight before the ko. ortiz got dirty first and deserved to be made a fool.

btw, i lost more respect for ortiz in the post fight interview than i did for mayweather. mayweather spoke his mind while ortiz tried to lie and pretend his headbutt was everything but intentional.

I thought I heard Mayweather wants Pac to do a blood test the day of the fight? I think you would have to be stupid to agree to that. Granted its all speculation, but I think Pac would win vs Mayweather
