How is my ride height?
Just wanted to solicit some feedback with regards to the current ride height of my car sans STAR lowering. Had a great experience with JR from Redline Speedworx in Washington, NJ this past week getting it done, and we used the thread from this forum as a reference.
All around the height of the car is approximately 25.5" from the ground to the top of the wheel arches. She definitely rides harder now but that was something I was looking for as well.

A lot of votes to go lower! The car already rides much harder, and I'm rolling in comfort mode. Sport 2 now reminds me of my M5.

Looks dead on with STARS/DAS lowering. Similar to my E55. But i have renntech ELM for my black E500 and can take it down to the lip, but choose not to. Less than one finger gap is good enough for me.

Looks just right for NJ driving.I have a few questions for all of you.
When STAR/or Washer lowered how much will it raise it up when you press the raise button? This is good for winter time and speed bumps/driveways/etc.
And with stock wheels and stock Tires size lowered this much what is the max non-rubbing Spacers that we can add to the 63's? Any brand preffered, exact details please.
Cylinder Head: Can you rate your 63 vs your M5?Like which areas are better on both?I have a 63 of course but I always pondered getting a 06 M5 or M5 hard top. Please steer me away from BMW.

I'd like to know about spacers too.
I loved my M5, loved loved loved. It was a great car but had a number of idiosyncracies (sp?) that would turn the average motorist off. The SMG was snappy, crunchy and jerky, but when you wanted to go fast it was unreal. Response was instant, it shifted in the time it took for your brain to tell your hand to pop the paddle. I could shift that thing at redline on sound alone, no need to look at the tach.
The S85 motor is insane and I loved every second of it. No torque whatsoever compared to the E, there is no comparison there. It sounded amazing but was the worst gas and oil guzzler I've ever experienced. The tranny gearing didn't help either. Highway speeds you're at 3k rpm easy. A quart of oil every 2k miles if you got lucky. Suspension was harsh but I liked it. Passengers hated it. In fact I think most of the negative reviews you'll hear about those cars are from passengers. I loved my Indy Red interior but that was a $3k option. No red = no go as otherwise that interior looks like crap, just boring. The HUD was also completely awesome.
I liked idrive so call me crazy. The car was also very easy (and cheap somehow) to maintain. It told you every time it needed anything. During the course of owning the car I had to take it in maybe 3 times for something going wrong. 1 SMG pump which would have cost a mint if I didn't have an extended warranty. Factory SMG clutch went at 90k miles. 90 K MILES, HOW DOES A CLUTCH LAST THAT LONG UNDER MY MERCILESS FOOT??
Sorry I can't convince you not to get one. The E60 M5 is a Ferrari with a BMW badge and 4 doors. Some will break like Ferrari's, and some (like mine) will run as reliable as a Honda. It all depends on how Hans is feeling that day while he's wrenching your car to life. 100,000 miles and I was overall very happy with the M5.
As far as comparing the two they are totally apples to oranges. Passengers love the E63. It's comfy and the interior is just gorgeous. It is smoother in every department, and the power off the line is excellent. Better on gas than the M5 but not by much. I like the looks of the E63 a hundred times better, but I find it to blend in way more with the crowd. The stereo in the E63 is not quite as good as the M5 but very close. If I could get my center speaker to stop vibrating it'd be perfect. Every day driving the E63 will keep you much saner.
I don't think I'm going to go for the intake, I just don't see the benefit as I don't really show the car and rarely pop the hood unless I'm adding fluids. Rather put the money towards a tune and some longtubes. Nice meeting you btw.

Fair enough! What LTs you think you're going to end up purchasing? Same to you, I'm sure will be seeing more of each other!

Seriously, use a large level and you can figure out how far you want them to push out.
