--Question about getting a E55 on a lift--

So I just became a new owner of a e55 and love it.. I just bought the front CF lip and want to install it and I asked on of my buddies who has a shop to use his lift and he said you have to desable the air susspension or some thing because when it gets raises it could mess something up supposedly!!! Now am new with the E55's so am here to ask is that true is he just wrong?? sorry if it's a stupid question but I'd rather be safe than sorry I've owned benzes before but this will be my first air ride and first AMG

That's garbage, make sure you put the beams on the support under the car though.

Hit the raise button. Allow the suspension to raise. You don't need to do anything else. But if you are really concerned you can hit the "Tow" button next to the SOS button in the upper control panel

I've gone to 3 different independent Benz shops in the past 2 years to have some work done. Everytime I ask them to lower the car to the ground very slowly once the tires touch the ground so that my stupid balloons don't pop. The response is always. "We already do that."

Ive had my car on two posts for several repairs. Like previously stated, just raise it (the car) and turn off the anti-tow alarm just to be safe. And make sure to lower it very carefully when wheels make contact.

Can't even count how many times I've had my car on the lift but each time we just lift it. Just lower it back down gently. Can't remember where I went to measure my rotors a while back but as I wae watching, dude was looking to "disable the suspension in the trunk cos it would cause a check engine light." Took my keys and left immediately.
Just this Friday, had the rear sitting in the air for over 24hrs. Lowered her down gently and was good to go.

Berti_00,

I use a lift all the time to raise my car, when I'm doing maintenance on it. There is no issues when raising it. Just ensure the support arms are placed under the rubber pads under the rocker panels. I usually place small pieces of wood over the lift support to provide a wider footprint. When letting the car down, please ease it down slowly. If you just let the car down fast, the air inside the airstruts could rupture the rubber blatter, causing a blow out of the strut or the air springs in the rear. The key is to lower the car slowly, and let the suspension settle. I usually lower it down a little, until the suspension starts to compress, then stop for a 10 seconds, then let it down some more, repeat until the car is resting nicely on its own. No muss no fuss. The synopsis is that your suspension thinks it's in the fully raised position when lifted. When letting the car down, the air trapped in the air struts and airsprings, needs to be relieved slowly as to not rupture their air blatters. So caution is advised. Other than that, by all means use the lifts. I hope that this answers your question.

Yeah no worries. My buddy is shop foreman at local Benz and jacks them all day with no problems. Just put all 4 arms under your jack points and lift away.

It will be fine.
