Exhaust help pls!

Hey guys

I had my friend do exhaust work from my headers to X-pipe and now trying to connect to stock mufflers. There are seal rings shown in the EPC but there was also some gaskets (lead crush gaskets or something) of some kind when he took off the exhaust that go around the seal rings that kind of crumbled away. Can't seem to find the part in the EPC. Does any one have any idea what they are? Is it just some kind of exhaust putty or is there a part there? I would put a v-band there (already bought a pair) but the pipes are too close together. Appreciate any help here.

I have attached a pic of the area I am talking about. The "gaskets" go around the seal rings. If I just put the seal rings in, they just sit loosely between the exhaust sections

Thanks!

they usually crumble away. you can get them for the dealer for about 10 to 15 dollars. i would just delete the resonator

LOL ... I was just going to call the parts guy up to ask but thought I would come here first in case people had other ideas. I thought resonator delete would cause drone and I have other cars with resonator gone and there was a lot of drone. This is my cruiser but if you guys think it's time .. I trust your judgements! Thanks for the advice .. there's always a reason I come back here

Resonator delete!! ???

I kept resonator, but replaced the parts you highlight with "good" V-Bands. Makes life much easier.

Hey can you define "good" v-bands please? The v-bands I have are stainless but they are too big for the area I described above. The pipes sit pretty much right next to each other!

you can stagger the V bands on each side.

Hmm .. I've gotta be missing something here. We did that but still too close. I have looked at the individual pieces off the car. The v-bands even staggered hits the adjacent pipe. I will look again. I'll see if I can find other folks' setups as well ... it can't be that hard!! I almost want to just buy aftermarket mufflers now ... geez.

Thanks guys!

*EDIT* Never mind .. I looked at how the whole system is set up (I only saw it in pieces). My buddy said almost everything is gone ... I think he was still trying to use the stock resonator. Once that is gone there will be room between the pipes to stagger as Shardul mentioned! Thanks!
