Retro fitting a whipple to an E55

E55 AMG on Ethanol-Meth; 600rwhp BMW M5
Just to clear a couple things up, this kit was custom made with the intercooler, intake, rails, throtle body plates etc to bolt onto the motor of a Jaguar XJR. It had the factory Eaton style blower, so we custom made the 2.9 Whipple kit, sleeved the block, forged pistons, forged rods, ported and polished heads to name a few.
It is scheduled to be done 2 weeks from now, once that is wrapped up, we are taking over the E85 E55 for a custom intake to be cut. We are a whipple dealer too, so that will be our next under taking, and put out a very well priced kit for the M113K crowd.
We are shooting for 700rwhp with this build on our customers XJR Jag, and will release the typical information everyone like to know, IAT's, timing, a/f and pulley configuration. Although this is different to the M113K motors, the build has many similarities, and we thought you guys would be interested, as our next transition will be into a custom kit for the AMG crowd.

If you look at NEW mass produced kits for Mustang and Camaro, you will see a bare SC at $5200, up to $8200+ for full bolt on (Fuel rail, intake, I/C)
So with that said, I would find it hard to believe this kit would be less than 7, and $7K, and that is a good price (plug and play)

I was thinking the same thing. A 2.9l blower with nothing else is 2,800.00. That is a bare sc with no inlet and a stub drive. You are looking at 3200-3300 for one with a drive snout. + pulley and inlet design and on top of that on the 55k it is not like the blower just bolts on. It is cast into the inlet runners. And then you have intercooling, etc... I built my own complete system and have in parts and raw materials and a cheaper smaller blower, near 5-6k without any labor or things like welding supplies. That is not a second of labor factored in. I always joke that I could work part time at a fast food restaurant and make enough money to buy any car that I could possibly want instead of making stuff.

Pretty sure Craig wants to do get this done ASAP but he is also focused on helping members fix issues so I'm sure a delay is okay with him. i know the BIP boys are more than able to make this happen. I want to see this happen ASAP too but I'm just trying to get to Craig's level!!!

Here are a couple pics of the Jag with the 2.9 Whipple fitted with custom intake cut along with some other fabbing.
Meat is a sleeved block with forged ross pistons, forged rods and crank. Customer wants 700rwhp.

New Member here. I am in the Market for a e55 and have been reading the board. I come from a modified car world so this stuff in not foreign to me. I also work As a euro car tech In Santa Monica
A few things to add to the thread.
Intake to cylinder head to manifold should be pretty easy. Get some oval intake runner tube. cut it the length/ height of the intake runners that is part of the supercharger. Get a gasket and have some flanges cut out for both top and bottom part of the intake along with some injector bungs.
this would allow the use of the factory surge tanks.
I feel the factory intercooler would work fine at high boost levels with a more efficient whipple charger as IAT's would be somewhat lower due to the whipple being much more efficient than the factory charger.
As for the back of the charger where the throttle body goes. you could just cut the flange off the factory AMG part and have a new flange made for the whipple and weld it together. Or make a new one out of aluminum.
now on to the front.. this is where it gets tricky. If there is no Clutch shut off or to tune out .
Would you be able to
1. use the front shaft from the OEM charger and still retain factory clutch
2. machine whipple front housing to accept the benz OE front shaft/bearing clutch pulley assembly for the above

2005 E55, 2011 Honda Push Mower (21 inch deck bishes)
Wondering what became of this. I'm intimately familiar with the Whipple 2.3 and 3.4's on the Lightning platform, and have installed quite a few of them. In our case, the 3.4's never really put the times down that the 2.3's could when spun (this was behind a 5.4L engine, so comparative in size to our 55's). The BIGGEST issue was that Intake Temps were through the roof with the 3.4. Our stock Intercooler cores already seem inefficient when pushing past 13 pounds or so. The only way we could get the 3.4 heat under control was with a massive front heat exchanger and a huge rear cooling tank. Even then though, we'd be blasting 180°+ after the intercooler on a 1/4 pass at 23 pounds. We nicknamed the 3.4's "Space Heaters" on the Lightning Forums. Still haven't seen one go faster in a Lightning than the 2.3 setups.
Food for thought I guess. Would love to see it installed in a 55 though!

The customer ran out of money for this Jag build, so we ended up buying the car from him since we had so much in it.
That put a halt on any further R&D for the e55 whipple kits right now.
